Message from the Minister
A New Season!
Keep these thoughts in mind as we begin a new season together at Mt. Bethel . . . our 23rd!
"The Will of God will never take you Where the Grace of God cannot keep you, Where the arms of God cannot help you, Where the riches of God cannot supply your needs, Where the power of God cannot endow you.
"The Will of God will never take you Where the Spirit of God cannot work through you, Where the wisdom of God cannot teach you, Where the army of God cannot protect you, Where the presence of God cannot calm your fears, Where the authority of God cannot overrule you.
"The Walk of God will never take you Where the comfort of God cannot dry your tears, Where the Word of God cannot feed you, Where the miracles of God cannot be done for you, Where the omnipresence of God cannot find you." - - Author unknown - -
Let's follow His Will and make this new season the best one yet! See you Sunday, Randy
Sometimes you'll hear people say about their experience of worship in their church, "I don't get anything out of worship at my church." It's sad that folks feel this way about their church. Unfortunately, those who proclaim this do not have the right attitude for worshipping God. We do not worship to receive but to give. All Christian worship is for the purpose of giving offering to God in thanksgiving and praise for what God has done for us. It is a time we offer ourselves to God in Christ as His disciples. There are a variety of ways to worship God, all are blessed if we keep our focus on God. Some denominations do not allow choirs because they feel it produces a form of "entertainment" for the worshipper. Some denominations do not allow musical instruments for the same reason. The United Methodist tradition incorporates many different styles of worship, largely because our God is bigger than any single style. In your mind, if God can only be worshipped in one way, one style of worship . . . it's time to expand your understanding of God and worship. Mt. Bethel provides four inspiring styles of worship each Sunday. Regardless of the style you prefer, each service is God-focused. Your presence is vital to our faith community in worship. The styles of worship will vary every so often, but the priority of our focus will not. I look forward to worshipping with you whenever, wherever and however possible. Randy

Mark your calendar for our "Fall Kick-Off Celebration" on Sunday, August 8. All worship services will be combined in the Sanctuary at 9:30 & 11:00. Children from age 3 through 5th Grade (God's Garden, Camp Splat & Surf's Up) and their families will worship in the Gym, Olympia Room & Aerobics Room at their own "Back to School" celebration. Adult Sunday School classes will meet as usual, but no Sunday School for children. Instead of our normal breakfast, we will have a covered dish lunch in the Fellowship Hall immediately after each worship service. The church will provide pulled pork, buns, fruit, baked beans & drinks. We are asking each family to bring a dish that would serve 8-10 people as follows: If your last name begins with A - H, please bring a salad (fruit or green); For last names I - P, please bring a side dish (vegetable or casserole); For last names Q - Z, please bring a dessert. Please drop your dish off in the Fellowship Hall prior to worship. No lunch tickets are necessary. The shuttles will run from 8:15-1:30 on August 8.
The Healing Service will be Sunday, August 1, at 12:15pm in the Chapel. All are welcome to attend.
Third Grade Bible Presentation will be on Sunday August 15 in both Traditional
Services at 9:30 and 11:00 and also in Encounter Service at 11:00. Reception and name plates will follow each service in the lobby of the
Education Building. Third Graders are invited to join us for a special night on Friday, August 20th in the
Fellowship Hall from 6:00-9:00 pm as we "Unlock the Mystery of the Bible."
The
night will begin with pizza and an adventure that will take the children
through the different libraries of books contained between the covers of their
new Bibles. The night will close with a treasure seeker sundae as
children are sent out on the adventure of a life time in their new treasure
book, the Bible! Registration is available online. Cost is $10.
The New Member Class is a short, informal gathering designed to help you get connected. This introduction to Mt. Bethel will clearly explain who & what our church is. We have several classes scheduled for the year: Saturdays, August 21, September 25 & November 13 (you don't have to attend all of these, just one). The class is from 9:00-11:00 in the Small Dining Room. Childcare is available. For more information or to register, contact Krista Downing - 678-560-7226.

face with a name? Are you a new member & wish you had something to
help you put names with faces? We are producing a pictorial family album!
There is no cost to have your photographs taken, and you will receive a free
8x10 portrait & directory for participating. You will be able to view
your images electronically immediately after photography. At that time,
you will have the opportunity to purchase additional portraits to share with

Our Joys & Concerns
The Paschal Candle burns in honor of the life of Rachel Chastain, now living in the Father's House. The Paschal Candle also burns in honor of the baptism of Kaitlin Grace Welling, daughter of Richard & Stephanie Welling.
We extend Christian sympathy to John & Allie Chastain in the loss of John's wife, Rachel Chastain; to Leck, Phyllis, Lindsay & Trip Brock in the loss of Phyllis' mother, Phyllis Stuart; to Carey & Annette Smith in the loss of Annette's mother, Rachel Meeker; and to Ralph & Sherry Reed and Daniel, Shannon & Eden Herring in the loss of Sherry's brother, Fred Jackson. May God hold you in the palm of His hand during this time of grief.
We wish to congratulate Jacquie Tatman & Josh Collins who were married in our Sanctuary on July 24, 2010 by Rev. Jody Ray.
The Ray Joseph family would like to express how the outpouring of love and support they have received during the loss of their husband and father has helped to carry them through this very difficult time. We are deeply grateful for our Mt. Bethel family.
