Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church
Message from the Minister

One of the most exciting things about my role here at Mt. Bethel is connecting people to a Life Group.  The reason it's so exciting is because I love to see people's lives transformed and joining a group will change your life - literally.  I hear from church members all the time how their Life Group is the highlight of the week or how their relationship with God has grown because of the Bible study that takes place in the group.
If that's not a good enough reason to get involved with a Life Group, then here are five more reasons to join:
1.  Your Bible knowledge will grow.
The small group setting allows participants to ask questions about the Scriptures, participate in discussion, and share life experiences.
2.  You will feel a greater sense of connection.
Did you know that the phrase "one another" is used over fifty times in the New Testament?  The Scripture instructs us to love one another, encourage one another, pray for one another, bear one another's burdens, and to build each other up.  A Life Group is the perfect place to connect to "one another" and when you do, you'll sense a greater connection to the church body as a whole.
3.  Your Prayer Life will grow.
People constantly tell me how much their prayer life has grown because of their Life Group.  Praying for the members of your group and knowing they are praying for you helps grow our relationship with God and with the members of the group.
4.  You will handle life's pressures better.
Life Groups provide support during stressful seasons of life.  When people lose jobs, or a family member becomes ill, or even during a family member's death, your Life Group becomes a place of support and encouragement during difficult seasons of life.  Numerous people have told me how the support of their small group really helped them through tough times.
5.  You will be a New Testament Christian.
The book of Acts gives us great insight into how God uses small groups to grow the lives of people and the church.
Acts 2:42, 44, 46-47 states: "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer.  All the believers were together and had everything in common.  Every day they continued to meet together ... they broke bread in their homes and ate together ... and the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved."

We could never hire enough pastors to meet the needs of all the members of our congregation - but God never intended for it to be that way!
Contact me if you are interested in joining a Life Group or join me on June 23 or July 21 for one of our Life Group leader training sessions.

Missions Ministry

Thank You, Mt. Bethel! There has been a wonderful response to our West Virginia mission trips this year--so much so that we have added two more for a total of six teams which will be serving the needs of the severely poor in this Appalachia region of our own country. If you have a small group that would like to consider participating, contact Larry Armstrong for more details. Also, your generosity has resulted in our collection trailer being filled several times with clothing and household items. The need continues. Please pack your items in travel-ready boxes with the contents marked outside the box. And please be sure to put them inside the trailer and not outside the trailer on the parking lot. Do you know someone moving or having a garage sale? Ask them to consider donating items they no longer use which might be useful to, or brighten up the day of someone much less fortunate than we are.
