Message from the Minister
He Needs Our Availability
One of the items in Ripley's "Believe It or Not" is a picture of a plain bar of iron. It is valued at $5.00. The same bar of iron has a different value, however, if it is fashioned into different items: 1. As a pair of horseshoes, it would be worth $50. 2. As sewing needles, it would be worth $5,000. 3. As a balance spring for fine Swiss watches, it would be worth $500,000. The raw material is not what's important. What's important is how the raw material is developed. Each one of us has been given talents and opportunities - some more, some have received less, but ALL of us have received something as a unique gift from God. The values of these raw materials are a moot point unless we develop and use our talents as a force to build up the Kingdom of God. The opportunities, I believe, are also provided as long as we are willing to put our talents to God's work. When the desire is to promote self, and the tools used are gossip, innuendo, rumor and greed, the destruction of anything good is almost a certainty. However, there is another certainty which is assured by our Heavenly Father. The certainty of His promise to reward our efforts that promote His agenda: love, goodwill, stewardship and genuine brotherhood. The choice to use such abilities is ours to make. Build up or tear down? Words, behavior and actions expose the reality of choices made. This week, everyone who has not returned their commitment card has received a new opportunity to do so. What will be your choice? Build up or tear down? God does reward each person taking the opportunity to make our prayers, presence, gifts and services available for God's use. How available are you for God to use and bless? Your commitment card reveals the answer. Randy
