Message from the Minister
Upon the recommendation of several musical and ministerial leaders of the North Georgia Conference, and after interviews, we are pleased to announce the selection of Chuck Newman to fill the newly created position of Director of Blended & Contemporary Worship and Programming at Mt. Bethel. The responsibilities of this new position include the orchestration of choirs, musicians and worship services. Chuck will also help facilitate the formation of new choirs, bands and drama opportunities.Chuck Newman comes to us from the University of Mobile, where he taught music theory and piano. In addition to teaching, he has traveled and shared the stage with the Gaithers, Alicia Williamson, Alvin Slaughter, The Billy Graham Association, Brooklyn Tabernacle, The Crystal Cathedral, 4-Him, Beth Moore, Kay Arthur, Jonathan Pierce, Kirk Franklin, Dr. Tony Evans and TRUTH. He has also conducted numerous seminars and choral training events throughout the United Methodist Church. Our beloved Debbie Pierce, after 25 years of carrying the entire weight of Mt. Bethel's Music Ministry, will focus exclusively on Chancel Choir, traditional music, teaching and seasonal concerts. When Mrs. Pierce began directing the Music Ministry, there were fewer than 1,000 members in Mt. Bethel; today we are approaching 9,000. The efforts required to coordinate, recruit, schedule and direct have escalated to a multi-person job. The addition of Chuck affords Mt. Bethel the opportunity to expand ministry and to keep Debbie for a longer period of time. Debbie introduced Chuck to the church's staff last Tuesday. Join us this Sunday as she introduces him to the rest of Mt. Bethel.
See you Sunday!

What does it mean to be a Christian Leader, at work, at home, at church and in the world? One of the ways we have been able to answer this question is from the Biblical teachings we have received through one of our significant missions ministry partners, International Leadership Institute (ILI). Starting on Wednesday, March 17, at 6:30pm, in room F322, we will begin teaching the 8 Core Values of Christian Leadership. We are encouraging anyone in whatever role, big or small, to join us for these 8 sessions. By participating in the same ILI training that has been used with Christian leaders around the world, we believe God can use these eternal values from scripture to strengthen our church and prepare us for greater things in the life of our church and around the world. Register online.

College/Young Adult MinistryInternational
Internship Program -
The International Internship Program will begin this summer! On June 3
our third young adult mission trip will depart for Kenya. On June 17 most
of that short-term team will return to the US, but several will stay and begin
their internship in Kenya. We currently have 3 who will stay beyond June 17 and
one who will be joining the internship in July and all will stay various
lengths of time. I felt God revealing this opportunity as our ministry
partnerships flourished. With our relationships and trust being built and
more and more young adults coming to me asking me, "Do you know how I can
serve in the foreign mission field for longer, but not be a full time
missionary?" God revealed a plan and used my past of when I had to step
out in faith in 2006 and allow my then 18-year-old son to go to the mission
field of Ghana, West Africa. I have, what I believe a unique placement
here. To know the hearts and passions of these young adults and their
desire to serve longer and at the same time can empathize with the concerned
parents about being willing and able to allow them to go. I see each side as a
huge faith walk and KNOW, from experience and trust, that God will not leave or
forsake anyone during that time. Mt. Bethel is fully supporting this next step
in God's plan for our internship program. Mt. Bethel Missions will cover
each intern's international health insurance while they are
serving. If you would like more information, please contact me at gaylyn.kelly@mtbethel.org.
We
currently are accepting applications for our paid summer internship program
here at Mt. Bethel for positions in Children's, Students, Music and
College/Young Adult ministries. Applications are online.

Missions MinistryDeborah
House Mission Trip : July 3-12 - This summer is the ninth year Mt.
Bethel is sending a short-term missions team to Timisoara, Romania to work with
the girls who live in the Deborah House. We will bring Christian love,
fellowship & encouragement to the girls who live there, as well as perform
light construction work on the facility. The Romanian government is so
impressed by this facility that they recently allowed them to exceed the
maximum number of girls allowed in residence because of the emergency situation
of each of the newest girls; these new girls come from such traumatic
situations that the child protection agency has nowhere else to place them. Our
initial team meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 9, at 7:00pm in Room
B112. If you have committed to go this year or would like more
information about this trip, please attend this meeting. You may also
contact Betty Holt - 770-579-8334.

lunch delivery to children, food box preparation, sorting of clothing
donations, and more. Go to HOHM.org for more
information. Trip dates are April 29-May 2 and July 29-Aug. 1. Adults
and children over 14 are welcome. E-mail Larry Armstrong. Also,
please continue to support this ministry through donations to the Hands of Hope
collection trailer located on our parking lot. We especially need household

items, decorative pieces, etc.). Please pack items in travel-ready boxes with
contents marked on outside.
