Boy Scout Troop 1011 Earlier this month the Boy Scouts of America celebrated the 100th anniversary of Scouting. Mt. Bethel's Troop 1011 is beginning its 39th year of Scouting adventures. The Troop has over one-hundred active Scouts and has produced over two-hundred Eagle Scouts. For thirty-three consecutive years, Troop 1011 has received both the National Quality Unit Award and the National Camping Award. It is Troop 1011's fifteenth year on the Cobb District Honor Roll. In 2009, the Troop's Scouts and adult leaders performed over 4,000 hours of community service including Eagle Scout service projects throughout the community and working for the Great Day of Service. Our Scouting for Food drive collected over 7,000 items for MUST. Troop 1011 had sixteen campouts, four backpacking hikes, two summer camps, fourteen merit badge clinics, eight Courts of Honor, and ten Eagle Scout Awards. Mt. Bethel's Scouts earned 399 merit badges, 115 special awards, and 102 rank advancements. One Scout reached 100 camping nights and seven Scouts and one adult leader were elected to the Order of Arrow. Twenty-two Scouts and adult leaders attended a sailing, hiking, or maritime high adventure experience. Two God & Country classes are underway. Time spent in Boy Scouts benefits a boy in many ways. The friends he makes, the work ethic and morality he develops, the community service he practices, and the knowledge and skills he gains will help him throughout the course of his life. Thank you Mt. Bethel for supporting the Scouting Program! To learn more about Scouting at Mt. Bethel visit scouts.mtbethel.org.
Cub Scout Pack 121 In 2009, Mt. Bethel's Cub Scout Pack 121 completed its 30th year of Scouting. The Pack is one of the largest and most active in the Atlanta area and has, once again, earned the coveted "Chicken Pin" (a local Scouting honor roll) and the Quality Unit Award. Cub Scouts is family oriented and Pack 121 wants to thank all of the parents who took time to help guide and lead the 78 boys in our numerous Scouting activities. Some of those activities included: The Great Day of Service, Marietta National Cemetery Flag Placement, several camp-outs, Scouting for Food, Scout Expo, and of course our Pinewood Derby Race. Cub Scouting is a fun and family-oriented activity, so if you have a rising 1st - 5th grade son and are interested in Scouting, visit mtbethel.org/cubscouts, call Todd Pinniger at 770-579-9065, or come to our next Pack Meeting. The following Pack 121 Cub Scouts earned the "God & Family" award: Nick Champion, Riley Collins, Brockton Davis, Carter Davis, Jack Forestner, Carter Gooch, Thomas Harlin, John Kirby, Michael Minick, and Alex Sembrot.

Last Chance for Veterans to get Pictures on Vets Wall of Honor - Feedback on the Veterans Wall of Honor, in the first floor of the B Building, has been excellent. It honors the past & current service of our veterans. We would like to honor more of our church members who served in our military, from WWII up through today. If you would like to be added to the Wall of Honor, please bring a picture of you in uniform to the church office and mark it for Mike Boyce. Please identify your name, branch of service, and era served. DO NOT give us an irreplaceable picture - get a copy made at one of the local photo places and give us the copy. Deadline for getting a picture turned in is Monday, March 8. Questions, contact Bob Babcock - 678-480-4422.
DNOW
Update:
Thank
you to everyone of you who prayed, served, donated and/or sent your student to
DNOW. Our goal was for students to encounter Jesus Christ and respond with
their lives and to receive the truth of Isaiah 55; that God is the only
satisfaction that can QUENCH their desires. With our focus being twofold
- the love we receive from GOD and then what do you do with that in
response to the needs of others, we highlighted 4 global needs. The OUTWARD
focus was 1) Kenya - the need for clean drinking water and the inability to
raise enough money to dig a well at an orphanage CCRC- Christ Compassion
Rehabilitation Center, was one of our defined needs. 2) Haiti has needs for
clean water and our ministry partner SIFAT has the technology and the ability
to build filtration systems and transport them to Haiti to be put into use
right away. 3) Rhema orphanage, in Kinigop, Kenya, is in need of 2 acres
of land to build a permanent structure for the orphans so that once the land is
owned they can have a well on their property. 4) We saw the enormous need to
feed the hungry and gave attendees an opportunity to donate a dollar to buy a
meal for a person in need. ALL THE FUNDS NECESSARY TO MEET THESE NEEDS HAS BEEN
RAISED!!
All
the money necessary to manually dig a well in Kenya was raised, filtration
system for Haiti, land for Rhema and countless meals for the hungry. In
addition the students donated 1400 Chapsticks for Bolivia, 1010 toothbrushes
for children in Kenya, countless balls and lotion for sick children in
Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Hospital and 1600 pairs of white socks for the
homeless.
Students
spent Saturday afternoon meeting the needs of others. Four urban ministries -
The GARDEN, Safe House, 7 Bridges and City of Refuge - were where our 323 high
school students, staff and leaders went and put the love and compassion of Christ
into action. The 317 middle school students and their leaders packed 300 care
packages for the children in the hospitals and wrote notes of encouragement to
the healthcare workers.
We
physically transformed the CAC; watched 139 college students migrate here from
all over the Southeast to give of themselves; we witnessed the homeless and
hurting receive love and compassion through the care of teenager handing them a
sandwich and stopping to engage in a conversation; we engaged middle school
students to focus on the needs of hospitalized children who might enjoy their
day being brighter when they receive a care package and we got a glimpse of
heaven while soaking in the QUENCHing presence of God through M25's, prayer,
messages, and music.
It
is with utter joy that we share how God moved and to thank YOU for your
encouragement, love and support of dnow2010.
-Your
dnow2010 team "I
am certain of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the
living." Psalm 27:13 - Amen. GOD is faithful.

Internship Program -
The International Internship Program will begin this summer! On June 3
our third young adult mission trip will depart for Kenya. On June 17 most
of that short-term team will return to the US, but several will stay and begin
their internship in Kenya. We currently have 3 who will stay beyond June 17 and
one who will be joining the internship in July and all will stay various
lengths of time. I felt God revealing this opportunity as our ministry
partnerships flourished. With our relationships and trust being built and
more and more young adults coming to me asking me, "Do you know how I can
serve in the foreign mission field for longer, but not be a full time
missionary?" God revealed a plan and used my past of when I had to step
out in faith in 2006 and allow my then 18-year-old son to go to the mission
field of Ghana, West Africa. I have, what I believe a unique placement
here. To know the hearts and passions of these young adults and their
desire to serve longer and at the same time can empathize with the concerned
parents about being willing and able to allow them to go. I see each side as a
huge faith walk and KNOW, from experience and trust, that God will not leave or
forsake anyone during that time. Mt. Bethel is fully supporting this next step
in God's plan for our internship program. Mt. Bethel Missions will cover
each intern's international health insurance while they are
serving. If you would like more information, please contact me at gaylyn.kelly@mtbethel.org.
We
currently are accepting applications for our paid summer internship program
here at Mt. Bethel for positions in Children's, Students, Music and
College/Young Adult ministries. Applications are online.

House Mission Trip : July 3-12 - This summer is the ninth year Mt.
Bethel is sending a short-term missions team to Timisoara, Romania to work with
the girls who live in the Deborah House. We will bring Christian love,
fellowship & encouragement to the girls who live there, as well as perform
light construction work on the facility. The Romanian government is so
impressed by this facility that they recently allowed them to exceed the
maximum number of girls allowed in residence because of the emergency situation
of each of the newest girls; these new girls come from such traumatic
situations that the child protection agency has nowhere else to place them. Our
initial team meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 9, at 7:00pm in Room
B112. If you have committed to go this year or would like more
information about this trip, please attend this meeting. You may also
