The Summit at Aledo Celebrates 5 Year Anniversary
Vicar Peter Couser, Mission Planter writes:
"It started over 7 years ago as God spoke to the people of St Paul, Ft. Worth to stay at its current downtown Fort Worth location but also to take the mission outward to new neighborhoods and communities. God led us to Aledo in East Parker County, and He opened the doors for us to begin public worship at Vandagriff Elementary on October 23, 2005. About 60 people from St Paul were led by God to launch this new mission outpost. We were a church on wheels and I was seeing church, as I had been accustomed to, being redefined before my eyes. Today over 240 people are a part of the Summit family. Along the way we have scattered lots of Gospel seeds in this community. People have met the Savior through us, and we have been stretched and have grown as we have experienced life together. It has been messy! We have laughed together. We have shed many tears. And we continue to be people who are "in process." But through it all we have seen how "wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ!" Thanks to St. Paul, Ft. Worth, partner in this mission.
Two Baptisms at Water's Edge, Allen
Vicar Travis Hartjen, Mission Planter writes:
"Last weekend, we celebrated two adult baptisms as a community. How amazing that God gave us such a gift in the first few weeks of worshiping together. Be encouraged that these are the first of many baptisms that will happen in our community. God is changing lives as we continue to share his love with those around us."
The first month of this new mission's life have seen many new believers experiencing the love of God in Jesus for the first time in their life. Thanks to Water's Edge, Frisco, partner in this mission.

Marks of a Missionary Movement #2 - Commitment to a Cause
|
I love this following quote from Steve Addison: "Effective movements know who they are. They know their founding charism and safeguard it over time. Their methods may change, but the cause never does."
The second mark of a missionary movement that Steve Addison identifies in his book Movements that Change the World is Commitment to a Cause. As we move toward Reformation Day, it is a good time to reflect on how this has impacted those of us who wear the name Lutheran.
As a Lutheran, I recognize our founding charism. READ MORE

PILGRIMAGE TO ISRAEL - MARCH 19 - 28, 2012
| Join Paul and Becky Krentz and Rev. Steve and Rosalyn Henze on this Pilgrimage to the Land Where Jesus Walked
| A pilgrimage to Israel is a life-changing and never to be forgotten experience for all who want to gain new insights and dimensions in understanding the story of God's mission of redemption for all people. We will visit the places where the patriarchs, prophets, and disciples lived.
More importantly, we will experience first-hand the places where Jesus walked, taught, did miracles, and gave up His life for us. From a boat trip across the Sea of Galilee to the site of the crucifixion and Resurrection, we will trek in the footsteps of our Savior. Paul and Becky and Steve and Rosalyn are pilgrimage veterans and look forward to traveling with you to the land where Jesus walked. Steve and Rosalyn are from St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Houston, where Steve is Pastor. Paul and Becky are from Georgetown. Paul serves as Mission and Ministry Facilitator for the Texas District, LCMS, and Becky is Director of Youth and Discipleship at Faith Lutheran Church.

Senior Fest February 5, 2011 - Faith, Georgetown
| Senior adults are encouraged to mark February 5, 2011 on their calendars for Senior Fest. Click Here for the brochure and registration.
This year's event is titled "Our Journey: Memory and Mission"
Our life journey is composed of several interwoven stories-God's Story, Our Story, Our Community Story and those of our faith models, to name a few. According to Dr. Hughes, our lives are sacred stories because God is at work in us. In the fourth quarter of life, we begin to gain perspective on our journey. Join us on Saturday, February 5, to reflect on the journey, savor the memory, claim the mission and refine the perspective. Dr. Robert Hughes of Philadelphia is the keynote speaker. | |
