| Hello
Welcome to yours2share's May 2009 newsletter.
The pros and cons of Monday to Friday lettings Weekday lodgings are increasingly popular with people working on contract away from home or as an alternative to a lengthy commute. Usually the room is taken for four nights a week, Monday to Thursday, but there are many variations, particularly where people work at home on Fridays, so they only need a room for three nights a week, Monday to Wednesday. Often tenants may pay for a weekday room but only use it for say ten nights a month because they travel extensively. For the landlord the advantages are many. The biggest benefit is that they have the use of the bedroom and the whole house to themselves at weekends. Their tenant will also have fewer possessions left at their house and they are not a permanent resident there. The main disadvantage is that the income from a weekly rental will be lower than from a permanent lodger. For the tenant, there are two major advantages. Firstly the cost is usually lower that staying in an equivalent hotel or bed and breakfast, or renting a room permanently. Secondly, compared with a hotel or lodgings, it is friendlier and more like home. The only possible disadvantage is that the room is only available during the week, but landlords are also often flexible and allow their tenants to use the rooms at weekends on the odd occasion when it is required.
