| Hello
Welcome to yours2share's April 2008 newsletter. In this edition:
Three Yorkshiremen share a boat in Mallorca Ian Chapman, Tom Harrison and Geoff Sumner had never heard of each other until last autumn, but six months later, they bought a Fairline Targa 40 together for £155,000. The boat, called Agua Con Gas, was built in 2002 and originally sold for about £380,000. It is packed with extras and will be moored permanently in Santa Ponsa, Mallorca, Spain. Both Tom and Ian placed ads with yours2share: Geoff replied to Ian's ad and then Ian replied to Tom's ad. After several meetings and a trip to Mallorca, the deal was completed. Ian: "Everything hinges on finding like-minded partners. You are not looking for a best friend, just someone that has a compatible requirement and that you trust." Tom: "yours2share has saved me a considerable amount of money. I looked at the options with various fractional ownership operators or buying outright and these would not have given me nearly such a large share or such a high quality boat for this level of investment." Geoff: "The key for me is that we all get on so well and intend to stay in touch. We'll have a log on the boat to record where we've been and what we've done, with recommendations and views, and notes about anything that has happened to the boat. Then we all know exactly what the boat has experienced." Click here to read the full case study. If yours2share has helped you to find the perfect partners to share a property or boat or any other asset, we would love to hear from you. New template contracts: car clubs and fractional rental There are three new template contracts:
If you need a fractional rental agreement where the landlord is a permanent resident at the property, there is a template contract for a licence for a part-time lodger commonly used for Monday to Friday lettings The two car shared ownership agreements cover the set up of private or informal car clubs. These have taken some time to compile because there are several ways that a car club can collect its dues from each of the owners: by charging per mile or per hour of use; is there a kitty to pay for petrol or not; is there a fixed monthly fee; and how is all of this reconciled once or twice a year so that people only pay for the actual use. I recently stumbled upon a great example of a private car club operating in Lewes, East Sussex. The organiser of the club, Adrienne Campbell allowed me to use this as an example of how car clubs work. Aptly called the Baked Bean Club, if you look at the case study, you will see why! Google's web calendar I'm often asked about on-line calendars on which people can record all the bookings for a property, boat, aircraft or anything else they are sharing. This allows everyone to see at a glance who is using the property etc at any time. If the sharing arrangement allows people to use the asset when no-one else has booked it on a first com basis, it also enables people to see when it is free. Some syndicates allow everyone to alter their calendar; many restrict the access to just one "gatekeeper" who manages the calendar. Some months ago I found e-allocator.com which is designed for people who share a boat or aircraft etc. This appears to offer a decent service which is also hosted by e-allocator for about £5.75/month + VAT. However I've discovered a free alternative. I spent some time last week playing with Google's web calendar and it's pretty good. You only need to sign-up for a Google account, which is free, and it is one of the many Google options. Simply go to Google and click sign-in. And finally, here are a few of yours2share's recent ads that I really like:
