A Word From The Chair
HEALTHCARE TOWNHALLS
Dear DuPage Democrats,

We welcome Reps Lou Lang and Mike Boland to our Executive Committee meeting this Thursday August 13 and appreciate their making time to give us the lowdown on what will be happening in Springfield in the weeks and months to come.
We will also have a videographer, Rick Steelman, of Talking Heads Testimonials working with members and candidates throughout the evening. With Rick, we will be formulating a new video to go on the front of our website and to use as an intro at trainings etc. PLEASE, if you are a delegate, come to IIT on Thursday!

This summer's weather is finally HEATING up and with it the Healthcare Debate in our country. We are hearing about disruptive "townbrawls" and we wonder just exactly what is going on. It is difficult to wade through everything we see and hear. First of all, please take a moment to go HERE to see how some of the worst myths out there can be debunked.

Then, please call your congressional representative to tell them you support the President's 3 goals of
  • GUARANTEEING CHOICE OF DOCTORS,
  • REDUCING THE COSTS OF MEDICAL CARE, AND
  • ENSURING QUALITY CARE FOR ALL
by supporting a strong public option RIGHT AWAY!
CALL RIGHT NOW:
ROSKAM

FOSTER

BIGGERT

Also,  if you have a healthcare story about why YOU need the public option bill to pass, please contact us for a video series we are working on and a town hall of our own in the works for late September.

THIS IS A DEFINING MOMENT FOR US ALL. Let's DEMAND the same healthcare benefits this nattering group of Republican senators and congresspeople have and STOP AT NOTHING LESS.

Please call your representative right now and, if you are really moved, join us for our weekend issue/healthcare canvasses. Our next event is this Saturday starting promptly at 1 at Dem HQ.

See manyof you on Thursday,
Bob Peickert

Petitions, Candidates and Videos!!
clarify, simplfy
We've got so much going on that sometimes it is hard to keep it all straight.

Let's try and make it simple:

Petition Season is open.
  • Precinct Committeemen need to get signatures to fulfill their candidacies. You may acquire petitions 3 ways 1) From your township chair 2) at the County Office 3) From this website
  • We ask PC's to strive to get as many signtures as possible to make sure they absolutely HAVE the 10 they need.
Other Candidates need help getting signatures and we are happy to help you acquire those as well. For now, we will have some at the Executive Committee Meeting on Thursday and more in September when we have a full meeting of the Central Committee. Look for a list of Candidates running on our website soon with links to their materials.

CANDIDATES: Make sure you interface with the DPDC HQ to get us your information/petitions to keep here at the office. We would be happy to give you the contact for PCs who may be willin to gather signatures for you. We will be having video coaching available at the Thursday meeting for the five candidates who responded to the offer. Other services will be available in the future.

If you want to be a candidate and have not interviewed with the Recruitment committee yet, please try to do so on August 22 (we have two slots available). Call us at 630-629-1125.
