YES, YOU CAN CALL HER SHIRLEY!

Shirley
Shirley Kessler, DPDC Volunteer Coordinator

Thank you.
Thank you. Thank you,
to all the volunteers who have given their time to help the DPDC accomplish its goals this year. Last month alone volunteers logged over 150 hours working in the office making calls encouraging people to attend the summer parades, addressing mailings to new Dems in DuPage County, and performing other office tasks.  In addition, fifteen volunteers helped at the Golf Outing, signing in golfers, selling raffle tickets, issuing meal tickets, taking pictures, etc.

As I write this notice, volunteers are participating in our annual membership drive, stuffing approximately 5,000 envelopes.  Yes, that's right. 5,000! Where would we be without these hardworking, committed, and friendly folks?
Future projects include processing membership applications, assisting in the Issues Survey, and, always, general office work.

Please call and let us know when you can help out!.
Besides being usefully engaged, I guarantee you will meet interesting, curious, and very friendly Democrats who all care about turning DuPage Blue as well as promoting a democratic progressive agenda.  Come join us!

Peickert
Dear DuPage Dems,

In just a few days, our 2009 Membership request will arrive at your door. Please consider giving at the highest level you have ever given because those of us who work at this day in and day out will, most assuredly, continue giving at the highest level we can.

The results speak for themselves...

Highlights of 2008 include:
  • The first time a Democratic presidential candidate has carried DuPage County by double digits
  • A 108% increase in the number of Democratic primary ballots pulled over election 2004
  • The first time in 34 years that three Democrats were elected to the DuPage County Board
  • The recruitment of over 350 precinct committeemen....3 times the number in 2006
  • The progression to year-round staffing at our "hub of operations" with thousands of hours of volunteer time and the supervision of a full-time Executive Director
  • Our 15th Annual Presidents' Day Gala which was, according to the Daily Herald, "the most well-attended DuPage County Democratic event in recent history."

WHY WE NEED YOU TO GIVE

Progress in 2008 was great, but we rely on your support to maintain our momentum! Remember, the more successful we are, the more our capital outlay to hold and grow that success.

Our goals for this preparatory year include, but are not limited to:
  • An expanded base of support including precinct committeemen, precinct workers, election judges, poll watchers and area organizers (Calls and mailings and email servers cost money!)
  • An increasingly sophisticated and effective Voter Contact designed especially to reach more minorities and multi-unit dwellers who skew Democratic and will help elect more Democrats to offices at all levels of government (Personal contact also requires investment in order to convince people they should care about getting involved)
  • A constantly improving use of evolving technologies to communicate with voters and get them to the polls (We ALL know how expensive getting an efficient, up-to-date technological platform can be!)
Our Act Blue link is an easy and fast way to give and get it off your mind!

PLEASE CLICK HERE and GIVE TODAY so that we can invest your gift in the tools we need to vote in a better tomorrow!

Bob Peickert, DPDC Chair
