COD SHENANIGANS ON THE RISE YET AGAIN! Please attend tomorrow's board meeting SIGN UP TO SPEAK IN THE COMMUNITY SECTION OF THE MEETING WHEN: 6:00 p.m. THURSDAY MARCH 19 WHERE: Room 2052 of the Student Resource Center ("SRC", the red and white building, south end above the cafeteria) Go upstairs and walk to the left of the admissions office (map) OR: call Kay Neely at 630-942-2230 to register your concern today
Issue 1:Sudden need to appoint Dave Carlin (former co-chair of DuPage Republican party and, just incidentally, a CLOSE compatriot of Kory Atkinson, Mark Nowak and Mike McKinnon who engineered the petition fiasco that wasted taxpayer money harrassing folks who dared to run against them for COD board). This move would replace of Kay Neely (elected by the board unanimously last year for a one year term not yet expired) and just a month shy of electing a new secretary after the April 7 election. WHY? Issue 2:A self-appointed subcommittee of Kory Atkinson and Dave Carlin has revised the policy manual on which the board plans to vote. The American Association of University Professors has written a letter to the Board expressing its concern over this revision. T he author of this letter will be in attendance at this meeting, we think. Read their article hereAlso at issue is variable tuition for programs that are disproportionately used by single women and mothers trying to survive in this economy, authorization of a 60K/year lobbyist by the President alone without board approval and the MOST IMPORTANT thing is that they are doing this knowing full well a new board is soon to be elected and they are making these decisions with little consultation of numerous stakeholders within the college and greater community. THEY NEED TO KNOW YOU CARE AND THINK THIS IS INAPPROPRIATE AND DETRIMENTAL TO THE COLLEGE (as many of their decisions have been). PLEASE GO TO THE MEETING TOMORROW AND/OR CALL TODAY.
