Dear DuPage Dems,

I hope your New Year has started out in a good way and that you are, as I am, looking forward to the end of the Bush era in our country and ready to help earn back our place of respect in the world.

Without doubt,  times have been a little trying for Democrats here in Illinois, but the DuPage Democratic Party still has so much to strive for and to feel good about. We, as a group, have long been outspoken on the detriment of  pay-to-play regardless of who is participating and will continue to do so.

The DuPage Democratic Party will continue to grow in its role as a staunch supporter of regular folks who don't get huge bonuses for knowing the right people and of Unions who make up the working backbone of our country and fight for fair compensation that, in the end, benefits all workplaces. We will be supporting measures to elect new township officers throughout DuPage who will shepherd property taxes in a more equitable, less redundant way. We will be supporting environmental issues that are silently hurting our land right here in DuPage and jeopardizing healthy futures for ourselves and our neighbors. We will work to support the efficient repair of our local infrastructure at a decent cost to provide good servies and transportation with an eye toward greener solutions on all fronts.

Yes, it is a Happy New Year and we welcome our new President with our own celebration on Feb 8th, just four days before the anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's 200th Birthday. Illinois certainly has a lot to be proud of. Won't you join us in our celebration?

Cheers,
Bob Peickert, Chair DPDC
