PERFORMANCE. RESULTS. ACTION.
 MEETING MINUTES FROM 11/15
AGENDA: *Rounding up the first 300 days. Not surprisingly, thanks to all of your hard work and persistence, OTDB garnered more than 2/3's of the new recruits the County proudly told you about last week as well as contributed significantly to the uptick in candidates filing for office. GREAT JOB. * Figuring out together our strategy for the NEXT 300 days and beyond! Our discussion included:
- Building dynamic precinct organizations. (Connie showed some telling statistics from real DuPage precincts that illustrated how working your precinct makes the numbers of voters coming to the polls skyrocket.)
- Determining the issues facing DuPage County (Topping the list: Budget Responsibility and Transparency, Integrity of the Ballot Box, Public Transportation, Affordable Housing, Equitable Taxation, Education Funding)
- Helping candidates hone in on those issues to further galvanize Dem support from precinct to poll. (See the Candidate Spotlight Below and Campaign Disclosure Seminar in Upcoming Events)
- Committing to getting write-in candidates and newly slated PCs to the County Convention so OTDB's momentum can continue. We explained the process, handed out example candidacy statements and challenged members to find ONE write-in candidate to attend the FIRESIDE and get Statements notarized.
- Emphasizing that OTDB welcomes ALL who are interested in principled, issue-based, accountable two-party government in DuPage
It was a small but energized meeting with several new members attending. We look forward to seeing everyone at the FIRESIDE CHAT on Dec 4 and the joint DuPage Dem/OTDB Holiday Party on Dec 18th.

Rifat "James" Sivisoglu County Board District 2 http://www.voterifat.com/
Top Priority: Fiscal Responsibility As a former Republican, James' focus is on what had made that party successful in the past, sound financial management. Now a fiscally-conservative Democrat, James' top priority is to ensure that every tax dollar is collected equitably and spent rationally: · Fiscally Responsible You don't plan corporate budgets on hoped-for revenues, and shouldn't in county budgets either. · Challenging Group-Think Current board members got us into this fiscal mess - it will take new, independent and objective board members to get us out.
Education:Bachelors in Engineering and an MBA, with honors, from Boston University
Professional Background: Over 25 years of business management experience with firms like Alcatel (at the Director level); has lived and worked in the US and internationally; has dealt with major business and political leaders, for example structuring and negotiating a $40 million international manufacturing joint venture. James brings both a solid management sense and a broad perspective to the DuPage County Board - things we absolutely must have to thrive in the modern world. Currently he serves as a graduate and undergraduate faculty member at the Elmhurst College Center for Business and Economics.
