Support your local Democrats!
Have you signed up to attend the OTDB Fundraiser on August 17 yet? It's going to be a great event at the beautiful Itasca Country Club to raise funds to offset legal bills incurred by 2006 Democratic county board candidates Bob Peickert and Rita Gonzales.
You can also use the Bluetique to make contributions of any amount at any time, all greatly appreciated. Donations over $50 receive a free OTDB t-shirt. |

All it lacked was s'mores
Camp was never quite like this, but it's safe to say that the vast majority of the 100+ Camp Wellstone participants last weekend found it to be enormously informative, valuable and well-conducted. If you were there, feel free to write in with your stories. |

Check out our next meeting at the Elmhurst Library on August 23 7-9 p.m.
Join us at the Elmhurst Public Library for a spirited (as always) Operation meeting which will focus on the politics of Paul Wellstone by which we will remake DuPage into a community that works for everyone. We will also discuss the Precinct Committeman petitioning drive which is in full swing (you can pick up your candidacy sheets that night or earlier by calling 469-4931) and our continued recruiting effort. It's a jam-packed two hours and we need you to be there (bring a friend too!). This event is not sponsored by the Library. Click here for map.

Filling our Precincts for Victory
1) Pick up your petitions for your candidacy as Precinct Committeeman from us as soon as possible. If you have previously been a PC or have been appointed, the county has been so kind as to send them to you inthe mail. Make multiple copies of the one candidacy sheet they sent. Both Connie and Amy will have what you need and be able to sit with you briefly to explain it. Please contact Amy at otdb@ameritech.net or Connie at bakerce@aol.com. This saves you a trip to the Election Commission and is the perfect time to ask any and all questions you may have. You will need 10 valid Dem signatures but get all 30 to have a cushion against any Republican shenanigans! More signatures means more people on your side and those people will help build the base that will truly TURN DUPAGE BLUE over the next few election cycles.
2) Pick a date in the next month to have a potluck or coffee to which you can invite the Dems in your precinct. We can send you a template via email if you wish. Then take an hour or two a week for the next couple of weeks to carry around your petition, ask for signatures and let people see what the only other Democrat on their block looks like! You can invite people to your potluck/coffee at that time. The people who show up are your core team and will become your friends and the people you reach for to help cover their part of the precinct. Remember, these people will be happy to see you! Ask us if you still need your precinct walk list with all these awaiting Dems on it. If you need a mentor to walk with you, we have folks waiting in the wings...you just need to ask.
3) Please check out our Precinct Committeeman FAQ here4) Precinct Committeeman Class of Sept 07 convenes Sept 5th at the Glen Ellyn Public Library 7:30-9 (not sponsored by the GEPL). Contact OTDB to RSVP.
