Becoming a Triple-Impact Competitor

Jim Thompson -- Founder and Executive Director of Positive Coaching Alliance, a national partner of Pop Warner Little Scholars -- has recently released Elevating Your Game: Becoming a Triple-Impact Competitor®. This book for high school and middle school athletes explains how they can impact sport on three levels by improving themselves, their teammates and their sport as a whole. Here is a brief excerpt drawn from professional football that illustrates how football players can help their teammates improve:

"Kurt Warner had one of the greatest seasons any quarterback has ever had in 1999, culminating in a St. Louis Rams Super Bowl victory on January 30, 2000. A few years later, after injuries and inconsistency on the field, Warner lost his starting job to Marc Bulger. However, instead of pouting, Warner helped Bulger succeed. Warner was later released by the Rams, picked up by the Giants, and ended up with the Arizona Cardinals, who chose him to mentor their young quarterback, Matt Leinart. Warner then led the Cardinals, a team given no chance to contend for a title, to the Super Bowl.

Kurt Warner gave his team a better chance to succeed when he made his teammate better...Because of the kind of teammate Warner was, he got another chance and made the most of it, leading his new team to the Super Bowl.

Weplay Contest Winners Hold Clinic with NFL Star

Members of the Brockton Junior Boxers Pop Warner program, Weplay's 2010 Pop Warner contest winners, took part in their personal clinic with a 4-time NFL MVP in Boston.

200+ cheerleaders, football players, coaches and parents enjoyed an evening with Indianapolis quarterback Peyton Manning on Friday, May 20th on the Brockton High School football field, about 30-minutes outside of downtown Boston. After taking a league-wide photo with the Colts' quarterback, the Boxers ended the clinic by presenting Manning with their team jersey.
