2010 Pop Warner Nationwide Kickoff

Pop Warner Little Scholars celebrated the start of its 2010 football season with the fifth annual Pop Warner Nationwide Kickoff on Thursday, August 26th. This year's event was hosted by the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA prior to the team's preseason game against the St. Louis Rams.

The event included the ceremonial kickoff by Greater New England top Pop Warner scholar-athletes as well as pep talks by Jonathan Kraft, President of the New England Patriots and Coach of the Brookline Jamaica Plain Pop Warner team, and former New England Patriots linebacker and Sharon Jr. Midget Pop Warner Coach Andre Tippett. The Patriots also displayed the kickoff highlights in-game and recognized the eight New England Pop Warner teams that qualified for the 2009 Pop Warner Super Bowl: Boston Raiders, Worcester Vikings, West Lynn Rams, Shrewsbury Colonials, Stratford Redskins (CT), Bridgeport Raiders (CT), Fairfield Giants (CT) and New Haven Steelers (CT).

Pop Warner would like to thank the Patriots for being such a fantastic host for the 2010 Nationwide Kickoff!

The Value of Players Asking Questions
by David Jacobson, Positive Coaching Alliance

One of the best ways to teach your players life lessons while striving to win – the two goals of a Double-Goal Coach® – is to get them to ask questions. Many players are reluctant to do so, often because they fear admitting to a gap in knowledge will cost them playing time, or because they are embarrassed to speak up in front of their peers. But encouraging them to ask questions can meet many needs for players and coaches alike. First and foremost, it is important for players’ current and future well-being that they learn how to express themselves and understand that asking questions is often the only way to get the information necessary to succeed on and off the field.
