The newest photo album shows the progress made on the renovation. It is located at:
Inside Progress
The interior of the Lower Level is really turning out nice -- in the new Meeting Rooms, Ranger Rooms and Texas Room they have progressed beyond construction and are beginning the surface finishes -- tape, bedding, paint, etc. AND, the tiling of many of the surfaces has begun. Much of the wall surfaces in the PreFunction (Lobby) space will be ceramic tile - clean and new!
They have begun the process of cutting the whole in the roof over the stair/escalator opening for the wonderful skylight that will bring much-needed natural light into the building. Within the next week, they will be installing the new escalator into the lower level of the Convention Center. It will be very exciting to see how that process will take place. |

Outside Progress
Piers
Drilling for the 49 piers that will support the east-side (Brazos River side) addition - the balcony on the Brazos Ballroom has concluded. Work on the padsite for the new construction on the north (Washington Ave) side of the building is also coming together. They have also drilled the 40 piers that will support that new addition.
New Concrete Slab
There is a new concrete slab on the South side of the Waco Convention Center! The building will extend out to the edge of the slab creating a corridor between the outside entrance and McLennan Hall. The foundation being poured allows us to begin the newest phase - construction!!
