Vice Admiral Lauren Strong McCready
We regret to inform you of the death of Vice Admiral Lauren S. McCready, Tasha Tudor's brother-in-law. Admiral McCready was the youngest and last surviving of the 4 McCready children (1910-20). He resided on the old farm in Redding, Connecticut, and died there Friday November 16, 2007. We will miss his sparkling eyes and nice smile. For more information see the Wikipedia page click here
Tudor fans will know the McCready farm from Pumpkin Moonshine. Tasha Tudor featured her in-laws in her first little book in 1938. Sylvie Ann Wallace's trip to the cornfield was up the hill behind the McCready house. We believe that Admiral McCready made provision for the farm to be placed with the Nature Conservancy. So in the future it may be possible for you to walk in Sylvie's cornfield, too. |
