Dear Cellar Door Books Customer,

Cellar Door Books is Moving!

Simplification comes with age. We have met you at our home shop for 15 years. We aren't moving far - but the time has come to downsize. Our business will continue, just in different quarters. For those who visit New Hampshire, we will be a short 17 miles farther south from our Concord location, and still near Interstate 93 in the town of Bow. We are your mecca of Tasha Tudor art on top of a high hill with a great view, even from the Cellar Door.

Our telephone numbers remain the same. We look forward to greeting old friends, and definitely making new ones.

Bethany has opened her trunk and has brought out some special treasures.

There are six color photocopied artifacts: 2 New England Wild Flowers, 2 Early unpublished watercolors, a Christmas card image of Kinglets, and the front cover illustration of Gooseberry Lane.

ORIGINAL ART

biggity original art

Tasha Tudor's original art forms a very special part of the offerings at Cellar Door Books.  If you've seen them in person, you know how exquisite her watercolors are.  They have a vibrancy, a depth and a dimension that doesn't come through in published form.  You sometimes see details that are lost in the printing process, fine spider webs, for example.

We can offer you art ranging form small delicate pencil drawings to full-sized watercolors with myriad details.  We have drawings from Wings from the Wind.  A recent acquisiton is one of the Christmas card images of three children in red night robes examining the scene in the Christmas Eve fireplace.  Pictured here is a delicate watercolor of a mid-twentiteth century fruit store - with cowboys.Click on the image for more information. It was published in Biggity Bantam (1954).  Do peruse our Art section for a complete list of pecies available.
Lastly, we are happy to inform you - you may already have heard - of two fall auctions featuring Tudor material. Waverly Auctions is bringing to market the original suite of paintings for the 1987 Give Us This Day.  Waverly will also offer a selection of books with drawings and inscriptions to long-time friends in Concord N.H.  This auction is October 4,2007, at the gallery in Falls Church Va.

Charles Whitaker Auctions will feature the once-in-a-lifetime sale of 500 costumes from Tudor's collection (dresses, military uniforms, etc).  This auction takes place November 11, 2007, in New Hope, Pa.

Becky joins us in wishing you a delightful and pleasant Fall.
