The Vanished Note
Coming Soon!
This little book took me by surprise! .
The Vanished NoteWhen I first read it, my conscience was pricked
on more than several pages.  Not only are these stories penetrating, but they take you to situations that we all experience, and so often fail to see how all of life is a test of our character. Rich in practical truths, this collection of short stories reminds us that God does not always work as we expect, and He will overrule all for the best. Each story causes us to ask the question, "What would I do? How would I feel? How would I respond?" In fact, we encounter similar situations on a daily basis. We often fail. Yet never was there a hand that grasped the Almighty in vain, and never was there an earnest cry for help that failed to reach His ear and heart.

Laughter is Like Medicine

An old man placed an order for one hamburger, French fries and a drink. He unwrapped the plain hamburger and carefully cut it in half, placing one half in front of his wife. He then carefully counted out the French fries, dividing them into two piles and neatly placed one pile in front of his wife. He took a sip of the drink, his wife took a sip and then set the cup down between them. As he began to eat his few bites of hamburger, the people around them were looking over and whispering...

Raising A Modern Day Knight
by Robert Lewis

What does it mean to be a man? Moreover, how does a father instill these qualities in his son? Using as an example the process by which a boy moved through the medieval stages of knighthood, author Robert Lewis identifies parallel stages for today's fathers to create ceremonies to commemorate significant milestones in a young man's journey toward becoming a modern-day knight. Beginning with a biblical perspective of manhood, author-pastor Robert Lewis shares a unique approach to shaping a boy into a man by equipping him with three essential elements: a vision, a code of conduct, and a cause (Christianity) in which to invest his life. Complete with ceremony ideas to celebrate accomplishments and ingrain them in his mind, this softcover is as insightful as it is practical in raising a boy to be a chivalrous, godly man.

Wisdom Quotes

"...a man who perseveres in doing just actions gets in the end a certain quality character. Now it is that quality rather than the particular actions which we mean when we talk of 'virtue.' "

Power of Prayer
In Genesis 32 we come upon a scene where God, in the form of a man, wrestles with Jacob, a man of many devices. All his life Jacob was able to get what he wanted. He obtained a second wife whom he had to have, a dozen children, and additional flocks. By deception he stole the birthright and his father's blessing, which belonged to his brother. Jacob was a man of passion, but his passion kept him from receiving God's greatest and most fulfilling blessing-Himself. As the scene unfolds, we find the Man wrestling with Jacob down by the river Jabbok. The similarity between Jacob's name and the river's name is divinely designed. The word "wrestle" in Hebrew is the word for "Jebok." So Jacob, at the Jabbok River, is about to Jebok with a Man. If you say these words you will find that you can easily become tongue-tied, which is exactly what God designed to capture our attention. You see, if God purposely made the river where Jacob was standing sound like his name, and the act of wrestling to also sound like his name, then is it possible that God was trying to communicate something very important?  Before I tell you what that might be, I need to mention that the Jabbok River is a very twisted and winding river. It is only seventy-five miles long, but if you were to stretch it out, it would be several hundred miles long. To make this a little more interesting, the word "Jacob" means "palm of hand" or "grasper." The palm of one's hand is curved-crooked, so to speak. Jacob is the crooked man who grasps after that which is not his to possess. In line with his crooked and grasping nature, he is always planning and scheming to get what he thinks will bring him the most happiness.

Power of Prayer

Time seems to pass so quickly; it doesn't seem possible that fourteen years have gone by since Lamplighter was first birthed. I praise the Lord that He continues to bless this ministry and protect our families from the evil one. Well, I could write for hours; there is so much to communicate, and I consider this prayer ministry to be the most important of all our ministries. So please pray-we are committed to working hard, and we depend on the support of your prayers! May lives continue to be changed forever through Lamplighter, a glimmer of light in the midst of darkness.
