On April 18 at the Statehouse in Columbia, Charleston Water System (CWS), the largest water provider in the greater Charleston area, was awarded the 2012 Governor's Award for Workplace Volunteerism.  CWS was nominated by Water Missions International (WMI) to celebrate their strong partnership that has grown since 1998.  The nomination describes a shared commitment to provide safe water to disaster stricken areas and identifies the many ways CWS employees have volunteered to support WMI in their mission.

The PGA is coming to Kiawah August 6-12 and bringing a great opportunity to support your favorite volunteer agencies.  The local affiliate of the state professional volunteer administration network (LASCAVA) is organizing volunteers to staff the merchandising activities for the championship tournament -- the only job that is air conditioned!  Approximately 220 volunteers are needed for this role throughout the tournament.  That's a tall order unless we all work together and LASCAVA has stepped up to coordinate and schedule the volunteers.

For every volunteer signed up by or on behalf of an agency, that agency will receive $50.  For example, if you and nine friends sign up to work the event on behalf of the ABCD Agency, ABCD Agency would receive $500.  Interested in helping out?  The deadline to sign up has been extended to June 1.
