Urge Congress to Pass the
Calling for 2-1-1 Act

Only two members of the South Carolina delegation are co-sponsors on the "Calling for 2-1-1 Act" (H.R.211/S.211). We need your help to get more sponsors.

Please contact Jim Clyburn and Henry Brown and ask them to urge their leadership to SCHEDULE A VOTE BEFORE THE AUGUST RECESS. Only 60% of our state has access to the great 2-1-1 service that we enjoy in the Lowcountry.

Join us in urging our members to pass the Calling For 2-1-1 Act now. Learn more about 2-1-1 in South Carolina.

Volunteer Reception Center
Prepares for Disasters

Trident United Way is working with county emergency Coast Guard
management partners on an innovation to manage "unaffiliated" volunteers following a disaster.

The volunteer reception center will prevent the second disaster that sometimes occurs when untrained volunteers flood a site without any plan to use their skills.

TUW's 2-1-1 Hotline, which already takes an active role before, during and after disasters, is spearheading the Volunteer Reception Center. Look for more information in future newsletters.
