Free Tax Prep for Low- and Moderate-Income Residents
Trident United Way and its partners have helped Lowcountry residents save and claim $10 million over the last five years through free tax preparation and assistance claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit.
You can be part of it! We'll train you. Call Amanda, 740-9000, x229 to volunteer starting in January.
Trident United Way's Child Care Resource & Referral service has now expanded to Orangeburg and Williamsburg counties. TUW is now providing these services to families in 14 counties in and around the Lowcountry.
Parents seeking child care can call 747-9900 for customized information.
Income Recession Over But Local Unemployment Grows
There are 13,000 more people out of work in the Lowcountry today than there were in January of 2008. That is costing our community half-a-billion dollars.
Thank you to the employees and companies that are helping Trident United Way raise the resources our community needs to help those in need. MeadWestvaco employees pledged $86,000, a 10% increase over last year. Morgan Keegan conducted its first-ever campaign and raised $5,000.
