LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED!....again!
The Harvesters
Spoken Soul 215 throws one jam of an open mic at a BRAND NEW VENUE! Awwww yeaaah! That's right folks...a bigger more voluptuous building that fits of all your overflowing beauty, handsomeness and creative prowess in one place better than spandex!! (But a little less snug eh?!)...

The Harvest is being held at Marathon Grill on 40TH and WALNUT at their new PANDA BAR! (We haven't quite figured out where the name comes from, but it sounds swanky doesn't it?!)

Last month's recap: folks got on the mic...the mic was hot...the crowd otwas feelin' all of it...low and behold author Omar Tyree was in the place and got on the mic sharing a poem he wrote right there at The Harvest! Shoot! We could end up inspiring the next Tyree novel where a hot single poet meets a dark, handsome stranger at a city hotspot (The Harvest) and they fall madly in love and write steamy poetry and....eh hem...sorry...my bad I got a little carried away! Anywhodini...

=======================================================

Here are FIVE REASONS that you MUST be at
The Harvest this Wednesday and every 1st Wednesday of the month!...

REASON #5- ALL EXPRESSIONS WELCOME
Feel free to sing your favorite Chaka Khan tune, poeticize about your broken heart or even play a D'Angelo medley on your guitar, keyboard or flute! We're open to all forms of expression from all forms of people at The Harvest...

REASON #4 - GET FREE STUFF
vwThanks to our great sponsors we have the hook-up on giving you free t-shirts, drinks, cups, appetizers, mags, Vitamin water, CDs...and usually for doing something you were doing anyway like singing, smiling, clapping and attending The Harvest...it's not school here, we make it easy :-)

REASON #3 - GET A HOT DATE
Word on the street is that a couple of lovely folks met at the first Harvest, fell madly in love, packed their bags, moved in together and have set a wedding date! No...for real! But before we lose our commitment-phobe Harvest-folk, you don't have to go hard, but it proves that The Harvest is a GREAT place to find a good date! So come get your wink wink on...you could be sitting next to your future Mr./Mrs.!

REASON #2
- BE SEEN IN A NEW SWANKIER VENUE
This new place calls for a new level of swexy (swanky + sexy). We even selected a premier "sexy section" to balance out the swaggerlisciousness of the venue. The cool cats all hang out at The Harvest anyway...so just bring two more fab friends so we can bring sexy back...again!

THE #1 REASON TO COME TO THE HARVEST...SIMPLE: IT'S FUN!!
funYou can leave your troubles at the door, or get on stage and share them on the mic. You can laugh, cry and sing out-damn-loud and no one will think you're crazy! (well we may just a little...but hell...who isn't? right?!) Not to mention Spoken Soul 215 collective poets on the mic have something new for you every month! D&B ain't got nothin' on us! Bring your Fun to The Harvest and we got you!

=======================================================

thWe're talking Marathon Grill hospitality, plush seating, two bars, big screen viewing, elevated stage, surround system, fantabulous lighting, live music, two GREAT feature performers, same mind blowin' open mic, chair massages, fun giveaways, Skyy Vodka, Vitamin Water, American Dream Magazine, London's own Maggie ThUMP on the turntables, photog Sharvon capturing your best smile, BUJE marketing greeting you at the door and

Rhaps
just gregWhat Did You Say?!

Word on the street is The Harvest is the place to be...
But in the infamous words of Reading Rainbow:
"You don't have to take our word for it"...

==================================================
You know after checking out the pictures from the last Harvest event, I have to say we draw a pretty sharp-looking crowd! "I am so grateful for this gathering it opens up my eyes to all the beauty in PHILLY."I didn't think I was the only one to notice, although I'm sure Zatina was speaking of the beauty of the creative talent shared and the energy that flowed effortlessly through the night! A beautiful thing to see, hear and experience indeed!

 "This was my first time at an event like this. I am a big promoter in Philadelphia but I am in aw(e) over the success, the performances, and the dignity that this event has exposed." Well thank you and excuse us while we stand up a little straighter with a bigger smile on our collective faces. Good Money Entertainment was in the house checking for upstanding creative citizens and found The Harvest representing!

We realize that we are not the only great venue in the city and we advertise many others on the back of our flyers and at each show, but we are happy when folks notice that we indeed support taking the arts in Philly to great creative levels. "Philadelphia Spoken Soul is without peer. Thank you for being a platform for true art!" Thank YOU Nakisha for being a great supporter of our event!

"Sooo...inspirational. Keep doing what yall doing. Came from NYC to see yall." Well let that be an example folks! If JamRock can make the trek all the way from NYC then we need DC, B-more, Delaware and Jersey to join hands and skip on over the state lines to bless us with your presence at the Harvest too!

And for the many others who dropped us notes about the open mic list...no worries! The list is open and ready for you to sign up! We guarantee the first 12 folk get on the mic and then we run through the list in order (save for some fun bonus slots for "surprise" guests)...BUT get there early because the list fills up fast and there are no "Yo-sign-my-name-for-me-because-i'm-coming-from-work/yoga class/babysitter/bank/boyfriend's house/Popeye's"...that's called plagerism! We keep it fair up in here!

See you there!
THANK YOU...
to the GREAT folks who make The Harvest happen...

THE GIVEBACK
Reaping What We Sow

When you attend, we give...
A portion of proceeds from each Harvest event is donated to support PYPM.
THE HARVEST
If it is true that we reap what we sow, then let us sow seeds of justice, of righteousness, let us plant our dreams in fields of our ancestors, water them with sweet hymns, give them the light of our intention and the oxygen of our prayers.

Let us be Harvesters of our potential, of our brother's and sister's creative longings. Let us bring forth who we are, and hunger no more.
