FACT: THE EARLY BIRD GETS A SEAT!
harvest posin'
Ok for real? No really for real?! Really though?! We did just like you asked at the last show...we moved the furniture around, pushed the stage to the middle, put more chairs around, moved some tables and even gave you OUR dang seats and you all sat in every dang space available...including the floor! Really?! Stop playing!

There is only one explanation...ok maybe two: 1) You all are definitely THE BEST crowd dedicated to the growth and wealth of creativity and all-out flowdiculousness that the tri-state has to offer...or 2) Ya'll fools are just crazy alcoholics that just came for the open bar and couldn't leave after 2 or 3 Harvest bevvies and forgot where you were! I'm assuming option #1 because not only did you all fill the spot up, you gave your CRAZY-SEXY-COOL energy and made the night CRAZY-FUN-GOOD!

Let's do it again shall we?!

Last month the creativity was off the chain! We are blessed to get something different each and every show! If you missed it you missed getting your exclusive copy of Cypher Magazine, THE arts & culture not-so-underground-word-on-the-street-paper-product that every household should have! Come this week and I'll save you a copy! k? OOooh wee! That's right! Lyrispect did her signature piece "Calligraphy"...lemme just tell you...if you missed it...well damn! and if you didn't...well damn! And just when we thought our featured poet wouldn't make it, Tasha Jones swooped in and shut down the joint in 10 minutes or less!

This month the feature is YOU!
That's right folks, we are leaving it wiiiide open for you all to SHINE! So shine on! But uh...bring your shine eeeaaaarly!
These Harvest-goers are serious about being on time and getting a darn SEAT!

As always...THE MIC IS OPEN! We welcome musicians, poets, vocalists, storytellers, good listeners and loud clappers! We have a right to turn away naysayers, dreamstealers, hecklers and tax collectors at the door! All others WELCOME!!

Whatchu Say?!
We don't believe in gossip here at The Harvest...so if you wanna spread a rumor we at least ask you to write it down for accuracy sake....
Ok...truth is...I can't write down 8 pages of comments in this here update so you're gonna have to stayed tuned for us to post the full array of complimentary verbal abundance to our new website in the coming weeks!

But I can at least share a handful of the love from you lovely lovlies who blessed us with your presence last month..."I am in awe, this is entirely too amazing! Every poet moved me and I am so happy that you provided this for me."...you are so right! we do this for YOU...and you and you and even you! And what better thing to do with a harvest than to share it right?...

"Some of Philly's finest converging in one spot, giving their all and their best...I'm in heaven!"...quite possible that you are dear Kali...or somewhere close, because if it were like the real heaven there would have been a winning lottery ticket for everyone in the room, a surprise visit by Sonia Sanchez, a year supply of McDonald's french fries and harps playing...but hey...close enough right?!

My fave compliment of the night: "I don't speak English but whatever I understand of it sounds really good."...proof that positive energy translates to any language! Gotta love it!

"I LOVE THE SALMON BURGER! And the staff is good looking. And the poetry is funny and intriguing. I am having a ball. More free samples please!!!" Well folks there you have an example of a person who indeed loves the ENTIRE event no?! And yes Miss Monique if by good looking staff you meant the fine bouncer in the back, well amen! Thanks for the food suggestion too! And we will keep hooking you up with the free stuff if you promise to keep coming through! So folks get a salmon burger, give a wink to the staff and love the space you're in! We do!

And yes...we read each and every comment and know that you want even more space (what? you don't like sitting on each other's laps?!), more music...even live music, easy access to the bathroom, clearer sound and more of everything good about the event! Gotcha!

Now this is strictly between you and me, but er...uh...word on the street is...we just may be able to give you everything you asked for by the July show...but of course the details are hush hush and such! But I can be convinced to spill the beans on Wednesday if you buy a new Spoken Soul t-shirt or Harvest-poet's CD! eh hem...

THE HARVEST
If it is true that we reap what we sow, then let us sow seeds of justice, of righteousness, let us plant our dreams in fields of our ancestors, water them with sweet hymns, give them the light of our intention and the oxygen of our prayers.

Let us be Harvesters of our potential, of our brother's and sister's creative longings. Let us bring forth who we are, and hunger no more.
