The Waterfowl Festival has welcomed Megan Miller to its staff as the organization's new Events & Communications Coordinator. Miller is filling a related position, left vacant by the departure of Rae Copper in December, with an expanded focus on coordinating the Festival's communications and marketing.
A graduate of the University of Maryland with degrees in Communication and Government, for the past five years she has served as Coordinator of the University's Memorial Chapel, helping to plan and execute more than 1000 events each year. Prior to her position with the university, she served as the community relations and development associate for a nonprofit organization in Silver Spring, Md.
The Newport News, VA native has been an Eastern Shore resident since 2007 and is well familiar with the Waterfowl Festival and its role in the community. She now lives in Trappe with husband Brad and golden retriever, Chief.
Megan looks forward to being a part of sustaining the event as both a major attraction for visitors and source of support for habitat preservation and conservation efforts throughout the Chesapeake Bay region. "I'm thrilled," she said, "to work with the staff, board, and volunteers of the Waterfowl Festival and contribute to the continued success of the organization."
She joins Executive Director Judy Price, Administrator Nancy Wells, and Accounting Manager Jennie Russell as the nonprofit organization's full-time staff, staging the annual event and fulfilling its year-round conservation mission.
