40 Years, 40 Festivals
As we make preparations for this year's momentous 40 year celebration of the Waterfowl Festival, we can't help but wonder where will the Festival be 40 years from now? Will folks still continue to gather for one weekend in Easton to buy exceptional art, enjoy the beautiful fall weather on the Eastern Shore and sample scrumptious seafood? While the Festival has changed over the years and will continue to do so, the underlying mission remains the same: preserving the Eastern Shore heritage and habitat that was the core idea for the very first event. Join us as we celebrate this milestone in our history, and be a part of preserving something extraordinary! |
Premiere Night
After the success of last year's opening gala, another Premiere Night awaits you on Thursday, November 11 at the Waterfowl Festival. Stroll downtown Easton, taste cuisines of 5 great cities, and enjoy the finest in nature art. To celebrate our 40th, we offer our Premiere Night VIPS the chance to win a $500 gift certificate toward the purchase of any artwork from the Tidewater Galleries during the Festival.
|
Masters, Miniatures and Maass
Helping us celebrate the 40th Festival will be the Masters Gallery Featured Artist David Maass, shown on right. An exhibitor during the Festival's early years, David's work has become highly sought by collectors thoughout the world. He is bringing both original work and giclee prints, making his art available to a wider range of collectors. David will also be signing copies of one of his books during the weekend.
The first opportunity to visit the Masters Gallery and Nature in Miniature exhibits at the Academy Art Museum is during the Festival's Premiere Night for donors on Thursday, November 11th. Don't miss it!

Hall of Fame
Vance Strausburg, long time volunteer and exhibitor at the Waterfowl Festival, will be inducted into the Festival's Hall of Fame during opening ceremonies at the Armory on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 4:00 p.m.
Vance was instrumental in running the Festival's decoy auction, promoting the Artifacts exhibit, and served on the board of directors from 2002 to 2008. As chairman of the Appropriations Committee, Vance recommended that habitat restoration work supported by Festival grants be protected in perpetuity.
For the full story on Vance's induction into the Festival's Hall of Fame, see the current issue of Tidings. |
