In August, we told you about three renowned Waterfowl Festival artists who will share the secrets of their success in painting, carving, and photography at the Festival's Masterclasses. There is still time to sign up!
 
All Masterclasses will be held on Thursday, November 12, at the Academy Art Museum at 106 South Street, Easton.

"Simplifying Landscape Painting" with Heiner Hertling
9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. - Fee $75 - Limit 18

This workshop focuses on landscape painting - outdoors and in the studio - and how to simplify the process. Beginners as well as accomplished artists will benefit from this class. The class format is similar to the PBS TV series "Your Brush with Nature." While the focus will be on the use of oils and acrylics, artists working in other media will also benefit. All participants will finish the day with the own completed painting. Please bring your lunch.
"Designing and Carving a Winning Shorebird" with Del Herbert
8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. - Fee $75 - Limit 20
del herbertDel will discuss and demonstrate design, composition and the little techniques that go into a winning shorebird carving. Class participants will carve an avocet head/bust using hand tools. A slightly shaped blank will be provided, but students should provide their own knives and carving supplies. Del is a Ward World Championship carver and has published numerous articles on shorebirds.  Please bring your lunch.
 
"Learning to Use Your Digital Camera" with Chris Vigneri 
 
9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. - Fee $40 - Limit 20 - Fee $70 if combined with Advanced class below
vigneri This session will be geared to the beginning owner of a compact or digital SLR camera or for those that are making the transition to digital photography. This class will focus on the basics and Chris will discuss the latest equipment and techniques to get the most out of your digital camera. By popular demand, Chris will also provide critiques of class participant images, so bring examples of your best shots - and your worst!
 
"Advanced Digital Nature Photography" with Chris Vigneri
 
1:00 to 4:00 p.m. - Fee $40 - Limit 20 - Fee $70 if combined with Beginners class above
adele earnshaw This session will include the latest techniques in digital photography including advanced field strategies and equipment selection. The class will also cover the digital darkroom including monitor calibration and High Dynamic Range photography. Chris will also provide critiques of participants images, so bring examples of your work.
