With all the distressing economic news today, it's wonderful to know that there is a getaway opportunity where your dollar still goes a long way - the Waterfowl Festival!

For little more than the price of a movie and popcorn, you can spend the day watching dogs leap into ponds and pools of water, listen to kids and grown adults alike attempt to mimic the calls of ducks and geese, and view the best in wildlife art from across the country and around the world.

While gas prices have soared to more than $3.50 a gallon and climbing, the price of a Festival ticket has remained the same since 2001. There is even a better deal on Sunday now with a reduced-rate, one day ticket.

Tell a friend about what a bargain the Waterfowl Festival is - or better yet, bring a friend or two with you on November 14, 15 and 16 and save those gas dollars!

Masterpiece Carving 2008
A Father-Son Creation

masterpiece carving
For the first time in its 38-year history, the Waterfowl Festival selected a father-son duo to create its Masterpiece Carving, Larry Tawes Sr. and Larry Tawes Jr., both long time carving exhibitors. Their combined talents and expertise have produced "Pintail Point" depicting a skiff with weeds and a family of Greenwinged Teal roosting on the deck while a Pintail flies by.

If you'd like to read more about this carving, here's the place!

The Masterpiece Carving will be on display in the Chesapeake Gallery at the Armory - don't miss it!
