FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- BOSTON

Every Four Years: Presidential Campaign Photos and Posters

at Boston's Grand Circle Gallery

GRAND CIRCLE GALLERY and the ROBERT KLEIN GALLERY jointly present Every Four Years, an exhibition of posters, memorabilia, and photographs from American presidential campaigns. The exhibition will run from September 19 through November 17, 2012, at Grand Circle Gallery (347 Congress Street, Boston).

Every Four Years brings together more than 20 images from the campaign trail, spanning from 1948, when Thomas Dewey ran against Harry S. Truman, to the most recent 2008 election. Additional photographs from the Civil Rights Movement stand in contrast to candid images of American presidential candidates. Featuring photographers ELLIOTT ERWITT, ARTHUR GRACE, and LARRY FINK, among others, Every Four Years is a survey of America's patriotic, turbulent, and controversial campaign history.

Accompanying the exhibition will be an annotated presidential timeline chronicling two centuries of elections as well as a report on campaign spending from Abraham Lincoln to Barack Obama. Campaign memorabilia on display will include more than 40 campaign poster reproductions from the Library of Congress, buttons, magazine covers, newspapers, and a portable Samsonite voting booth.

"We are thrilled to commemorate the 2012 elections with this inspiring show," says Grand Circle Gallery Director MARK SCHIANCA. "Every Four Years is nostalgic about the past and compels us to think about the present political climate."

ROBERT KLEIN, Owner of the Robert Klein Gallery, adds, "We hope that this exhibition will encourage visitors to consider the role of photojournalism in politics, regardless of party affiliations."

Grand Circle Gallery is open Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 12 to 6 PM and Thursday from 12 to 7 PM, as well as by appointment. Admission is FREE and the gallery is handicap accessible. For more information, please visit www.gct.com/gallery or call 617.346.6459.
