FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- BOSTON

Robert Klein Gallery to Show New Work by 2012 Guggenheim Fellow Bill Jacobson

The ROBERT KLEIN GALLERY is pleased to announce its upcoming exhibition of new photographs by 2012 Guggenheim Fellowship recipient BILL JACOBSON. The show will open September 15 and run through October 27, 2012.

Jacobson, who is primarily concerned with memory, perception, and the dialogue between absence and presence, has been making photographs for nearly forty years. He describes his current body of work, Place (Series), as "the result of inserting rectangles of various sizes and surfaces in both constructed and natural settings. Ideally, the work questions what is 'real' and what is 'abstract,' while suggesting that the creation of places, and the act of placing, comes from choice and desire."

The exhibition will include a selection of prints from Place (Series) as well as a group of the photographer's earliest work, taken with a plastic Diana camera in 1975 and 1976.

An opening reception with the artist will be held on Saturday, September 15, from 2 to 5 PM. The general public is welcome; light refreshments will be served.
