Jeannie McClarty, event management consultant at Eventinsights, shared her thoughts about the book:

"This book is great for those who want to learn more about blindspots within an organization and within those who create the organizations.

The wisdom of pairing of centuries old fables, greek mythology, and medieval tales to similar problems within modern culture is a pleasure to wander thru and learn from.

Each chapter ends with the perspective of how a "jester" may think and act given a situation for a very thorough and user friendly learning approach."

Thanks for sharing your feedback with us Jeannie!

Greetings!

Welcome to the 2008 year end issue of the Corporate Jester Newsletter.  This publication is one aspect of our commitment to help individuals and organizations create maximum results leveraging the concepts and philosophy from the business book The Secret Life of the Corporate Jester:  A Fresh Perspective on Organizational Leadership, Culture and Behavior.

If you are a new reader, see the welcome article on the bottom left of this newsletter.

Over the course of the year we have been continuing to talk about how the concepts of corporate jestership and employee engagement are intertwined.

In our discussions we have referenced the Towers Perrin Global Workforce Study a number of times.  This study, the largest study of its kind, surveyed nearly 90,000 employees in 18 countries, focusing on what drives attraction, retention and engagement.

Some of you, especially new readers, have not yet read the full report.  We suggest you do as it has insights into organizational dynamics and human resource development.  To download a free copy, click here.
We recently became members of SHRM (The Society for Human Resource Management) and are considering attending the 2009 conference as an exhibitor.  If you are a member of SHRM we would love to get your Jester perspective.  We would appreciate any advice you would share about maximizing our involvement in the organization as well as getting the best return on investment if we decide to exhibit in 2009.  Share your thoughts with us by clicking here.

Corporate Jester had the pleasure of working with two interesting organizations recently.  We were invited to the BBC studios in London to speak to some members of their leadership team about the relationship between Jestership and effective decision making.  The session was a great success and we were delighted to work in such a spectacular venue (a television sound stage was converted into the space for the meeting).  Thank you BBC!

We were also invited to give a keynote at Microsoft as part of their "Insight Speaker" series.  The audience was a diverse group of leaders and project team members from many areas within the company.  We squeezed a lot of content into the hour we had together and had a great time talking to those that stayed after to chat.  Thanks Microsoft!

We would love to add your organization to the list of those who have hosted Corporate Jester keynotes or training workshops.  Contact us to discuss what's possible!

ASAE (American Society of Association Executives) published an article about Corporate Jestership in the November edition of Associations Now, their monthly print magazine going out to 22,000+ members.  The article is a great introduction to the concept of Jestership and how it might be applied to organizations.  We encourage you to give it a read!
To view the online version of the ASAE article, click here.

We also had a short positive article about Corporate Jestership published online at Examiner.com in November.  Using a short excerpt from the book, a case is made for Jesters in organizations.  To give it a read, click here.

If you have an internal organizational newsletter and would like to mention jestership we would be glad to support you with permission to use excerpts from the book, graphics, etc.  Just let us know what you need!

As a Corporate Jester we hope you are making a difference in your organization.  During this season our thoughts turn to the ways in which we can impact others in the world beyond our immediate day to day lives.  As some of you know, we LOVE Kiva and hope you would consider becoming a partner in their work providing micro-finance loans to the world's working poor.

We would like to support involvement, so anyone contacting us before the end of December will have their name entered in a contest (please put "Kiva Contest" in the message section).  The randomly selected winner will be awarded a gift certificate compliments of Corporate Jester to start funding your Kiva account.

For more information about Kiva, click here.
Have you seen the newly redesigned Corporate Jester website?  If not, we invite you to give it a spin and send us your feedback.  We are still tweaking it a bit for the January 2009 launch and would really value your input!

One quick request from the editorial team.  Each month we try to put together a newsletter that is fun, informative and has a little something for everyone.  How are we doing?

Could you take a moment to drop us a line to tell us what you have enjoyed most in past editions?  What would you like to see more of?   We want to continue to bring you a newsletter you look forward to opening each month!

Thanks for being a part of Corporate Jester.

Sincerely,

The Newsletter Team
