Greetings!

Welcome to the April issue of The Muse. This newsletter is intended to keep you connected to Corporate Jester as part of our commitment to help individuals and organizations create maximum results leveraging the concepts and philosophy from the book "The Secret Life of the Corporate Jester".

April has been an interesting month for us. We received a lot of interest due to the initial connection people made between April Fool's Day and Jestership. After understanding that jestership isn't about pulling pranks on those around you but is a perspective and set of behaviors designed to impact organizational culture, they were even more intrigued!

90-second Jester Challenge: "How to put a giraffe into the refrigerator?"

This month's Jester Challenge involves a fun quiz and a giraffe (among other animals). First record your answers to the following questions:

How do you put a giraffe into the refrigerator?

How do you put an elephant into the refrigerator?

The Lion King is hosting an animal conference. All the animals are there except one. Which animal does not attend?

You are facing a river well known to contain dangerous crocodiles. You must get to the other side. What do you do?

Take a couple moments and come up with the best answers you can given the information stated.

When you are ready, click here to see the answers, the point, and the rest of your jester challenge!

As usual, we would love to hear your reactions after completing this Jester Challenge. Would you send us an email with your thoughts?

Jestership at eBay

On March 22, Dave was given the opportunity to share Jestership with eBay employees at the company headquarters in San Jose, CA as a guest of the eBay Speakers Series.

The enthusiasm and engagement Dave found was outstanding - which made for quite an enjoyable discussion. The audience left with a passion to contribute to Jestership at eBay, as well as autographed copies of the book!

Written feedback we received from participants included:

"This was one of the best sessions I've attended."

"Dave is obviously an excellent public speaker, which made the session very enjoyable. I really liked his manner of presentation, and the interactiveness of the lecture."

"He made the concept real and underscored why jesters are needed in companies."

If you are interested in Dave coming to speak with your organization, please contact us.

Web Recommendations

Each month Corporate Jester will now pass on interesting websites and web resources we have recently run across. April highlights two of our favorite things: comfortable travel and great conversation!

As frequent air travelers, we love anything that helps us travel more efficiently or comfortably. Seat Guru is a superbly designed website designed to help you make better decisions about where you spend your time in airplanes. The website compiles the layout data for planes for all the major airlines allowing you to make informed decisions when you select a seat. Seat pitch, power port location, reduced legroom - the amount of information available on the site is pretty astounding. Take time to check out Seat Guru by clicking here before you assign yourself a seat the next time you fly.

We have mentioned the radio show "Embracing the Journey" before, but some of you have been missing out on the great website supporting it. Embracing the Journey explores what it means to be spiritually fulfilled in business by inviting authors and speakers to discuss honesty, compassion, generosity, ethics, and integrity in the workplace. It is great fun to listen live, but if you have a busy schedule, all past shows are archived and free to listen to whenever you like. The archives include interviews with Stephen Covey, our own Dave Riveness, and Tom Dailey (a founder of Discover Card) - to name just a few. Click here to be taken to the show's archive page where you can listen to the archived shows.

Pass on any website recommendations you have and we might mention it in a future newsletter! Just contact us with the information.

Thanks for being a part of Corporate Jester. We look forward to your comments and your continued involvement!

Sincerely,

The Team at Corporate Jester
