VWC to offer mammography services

New in 2007, Virginia Women's Center will open a mammography suite for digital screening mammograms at our John Rolfe Commons location. We are accepting appointments now for April. All screenings are performed by a registered technologist at our John Rolfe Commons location, using state-of-the-art Siemens Novation Technology. Not only is mammography one of the most important things women over age 40 can do to ensure breast health, it's one of the most-requested services from our patients.

Answers to your questions
By urologist Lonny S. Green, M.D.

Q: I'm a 35-year-old very active mom. It seems every time I get in the car-to do carpool, grocery shop or even go to the park with my son, I have to go to the bathroom. If I hold it, I can barely get out of the car and make it to a restroom. What's going on?! This is getting in the way!

A: You'd be surprised how often I hear about this-and from women your age! What you're describing is overactive bladder and urge Incontinence, which is the involuntary loss of urine associated with an abrupt and strong urge to urinate. Typically people with urge incontinence have little or no warning that their bladder needs to empty. Urge incontinence is related to numerous factors, including dietary, neurological and behavioral characteristics. Help is available.

Welcome, Dr. Rod Love

Maternal-fetal medicine is such an important aspect of obstetrics that Virginia Women's Center now employs two maternal-fetal medicine specialists. Dr. Rod Love has recently joined the practice and will work with Dr. Lisa Troyer to further advance the care women with high-risk pregnancies receive. Drs. Love and Troyer also work from Virginia Women's Center's accredited ultrasound suites to diagnose gynecologic issues, such as fibroids.

VWC offers comprehensive approach to       gestational diabetes

A diagnosis of gestational diabetes can be frightening. Virginia Women's Center has a special approach to gestational diabetes to ensure the health of mother and baby. The team includes your obstetrician, our maternal-fetal medicine specialist, our registered dietitian and you!

Electronic Medical Records

Virginia Women's Center has transitioned to electronic medical records. This electronic system enables your physician to access your chart more quickly. The electronic medical records system also allows us to better organize medical and lab information from other providers. For patients who have not visited their physician since the transition, we ask that you arrive a few minutes early for your appointment.

Online Appointment Scheduling Now Available

You can now schedule your annual visit online-whenever it's most convenient for you!  At this time, online scheduling is available for annual appointments with physicians only. If you are experiencing a problem or you regularly see a nurse practitioner, please call (804) 288-4084 or (804) 436-8038 in Kilmarnock.
