Today Neptune is returning to the place it was in the sky on the day it was 'discovered' here on earth in 1846 - - that's 165 years, the time it takes for Neptune to orbit around the Sun.. So this is one full cycle of Neptune for Human consciousness --- one rotation of a spiral in our deeper understanding of Pure Spirit (which is the vibe of Neptune) and Higher Consciousness. With Neptune in the sign of Pisces (its home sign) we really are revisiting the Neptunian energies in earnest right now, and this Return adds to the need to address how we are working with this sometimes nebulous, yet ultimately profound Spiritual energy. Here are some keywords for thinking about how the Neptune/Pisces archetype manifests in our lives, and how we are alchemizing it for our spiritual growth, and for the Highest Good of All (a Neptunian phrase if there ever was one): The evolved state of Neptune: ONENESS, UNITY CONSCIOUSNESS, SPIRITUALITY, PURE LIGHT CONSCIOUSNESS, MERGING IN WITH THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF SPIRIT, MEDITATION, SERVICE TO HUMANITY, ANGELS AND ASCENDED MASTERS, SPIRIT GUIDES, REIKI, PSYCHIC ABILITIES, EMPATHY, COMPASSION, DEVOTION, THE BODHISATTVA (Quan Yin as an example), SELFLESS SERVICE, BUDDHISM, CHRISTIANITY, JESUS, BUDDHA, THE DALAI LAMA, MIRACLES, FOCUS ON ENDING HUMANITY'S SUFFERING, MUSIC, POETRY, MYSTICISM, MERGING WITH OTHERS, GURUS, FANTASY, ANESTHESIA, SLEEP, DREAMING, DAYDREAMING, THE OCEAN, DOLPHINS, WHALES, WATER, LOVE, PEACE, YOGA, UNION, EMBRACING HUMANITY AS OUR SPIRITUAL FAMILY, BLISS. THY WILL BE DONE. We are also learning how to manage the darker side of Neptune: ESCAPISM, ABUSING DRUGS AND ALCOHOL (a misguided attempt to merge with Spirit), MARTYRDOM, SLAVERY, PERSECUTION, DECEPTION, CONFUSION, DELUSION, FOG, ILLUSION, NEEDLESS SUFFERING, THE TRICKSTER GURU, PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOR, NEBULOUSNESS, GLAMOUR, THE BLIND AND MINDLESS COLLECTIVE, BLIND DEVOTION, BECOMING HYPNOTIZED, SHAM SPIRITUALITY, BRAIN-WASHING, CULTS, THE DESTRUCTIVE SIREN SONG, DISASSOCIATING FROM REALITY, USING PSYCHIC AND SPIRITUAL POWERS FOR SELFISH AIMS. In my opinion, Neptune is - hands-down - THE most difficult energy to master as a human being. It involves opening ourselves up to greater Light and Higher Consciousness, and becoming cognizant of and willing to serve selflessly for Spirit, Humanity and the Greater Good. This may sound easy but Neptune's energy is so elusive to the human mind that it is easily mis-used.
Some say that Jesus and Buddha (and perhaps the Dalai Lama is on his way) mastered Neptune's energy and paved a way for us to do the same. The Neptunian road of Spirit is fraught with perils, spiritual glamours, and the tendency to avoid the narrow path of a consistent daily mediation practice combined with selfless service and spiritual humility as the way to Liberation. While under the influence of Neptune and grappling with our spiritual development, it is very easy to get lost in confusion and escape into pseudo-spiritual experiences which only further bind the Soul from higher levels of Union with Spirit. We all tread this path every day and do the best we can to tap into and live Neptune's gentle yet powerful nudging toward the pure essence of the realms of Spirit. ---------------- Here is a video with a lot of great information concerning Neptune's return (thanks to Molly at Astrology.com for leading me to this): Part One: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9nmYQmJR5I& (about 15 minutes) Part Two: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHjYmvvgQ8M&feature=related (about 15 minutes) Here is a shorter version of that video, for the time-pressed among us: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKMvaH0rPNA&feature=related (about 9 minutes) ----------------- THE SOUND OF NEPTUNE: oh man I just stumbled onto this and it is sooo good. NASA has recorded radio waves for many of the planets in our solar system, and then translated them into sound audible to human ears. (Yes, a literal 21st-century soundtrack of The Music of the Spheres.) This recording of NEPTUNE'S MUSIC is so amazing in that it really embodies the feel of what we have come to know as Neptune. I could listen to it all day as it feels very soothing and loving to me. (But I must be careful not to escape into it, ah the pull of Neptune:) NEPTUNE'S MUSIC: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwnpXll_A_E&feature=related ------------------- And finally, the Beatles will have the last word: ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4p8qxGbpOk&feature=player_embedded Both the Neptune Return and Neptune's newly minted 14-year journey through its home sign of Pisces ensure that we will review and bring to a higher level of understanding the themes (both good and bad) of the Age of Pisces (the past 2,000 years). The Age of Pisces is coming to an end now as we transition into the Age of Aquarius. Uranus is in Aries now and is helping us to jump-start the Aquarian energies while we are in the midst of the Neptunian ocean. And Pluto in Capricorn helps us to re-build the faulty structures of the Piscean Age and prepare the way for a more spiritual, less materialistic, approach to life. As my friend and colleague Rick DiClemente often says, Neptune trumps all the other planets, even the heavy-hitters like Pluto and Uranus. Neptune always has the last say: we came from Spirit and to Spirit we will Return.
