New Moon Solar Eclipse
Happy Chinese New Year of the Ox January 26, 2009 |
Jan 14, 2009: Hi there. I'm sending this newsletter well before the eclipse on Monday January 26, mainly because it suddenly came to me in a flash of awareness (yeah, a lightning bolt flash of awareness. Could it be ... Uranus???) Anyway, I had a V8 moment (Duh!) today that the eclipses are powerfully affecting some of us. We are in the homestretch toward the first eclipse now, and if you are at all sensitive you may be feeling it. The air is charged up, baby. Aquarius has seized control of the airwaves, declared Uranian martial law, and is channeling lightning bolts through both analog and digital conduits, i.e our brain TV's. Phew.
It is bitter cold here in the Northeast USA (and also in the Midwest). Today, here in Pennsylvania, it is about 7 degrees with wind-chills of minus 20 or something like that. Can you say brrrrrr? Hey, Southern California you think you're so hot (literally) with temps of around 82 degrees. Don't rub it in, now. Remember: we have the Steelers (Go Stillers!) and we whooped the San Diego Chargers last Sunday because they couldn't handle our weather! Ha! Loving it~: {P.S. I just heard President-elect Obama say on the news that the Steelers are his favorite team! Smart!)
But I digress ( stir crazy am I?) So - due to the weather and because I am self-employed and deliriously chained to my computer of my own free will - I'm hanging out indoors about 23.2 hours a day. How to avoid talking to a volleyball like Tom Hanks in that movie Castaway? I've been facebooking, myspacing and twittering (I like to call it twitterspacebooking) to stay connected with my buds. So, I posted on facebook today that I was up all night last night (remembering that several people posted that they were tossing and turning a few days ago). A friend facebooked back that she too was up all night last night. Then, synchronously, an email came in one second later from another friend who was also up all night. Interesting, I thought. And so, the V8 moment regarding the eclipses. Bring in the usual suspects: Uranus and his gang of Aquarian cattle prodders, who are running amok! They're wired for sound! Round 'em up! (Ha, as if that were possible)
This isn't a TOTAL solar eclipse THANK GOD (that will occur on July 22, 2009 - gulp. The July Total eclipse will be on the Capricorn/Cancer axis, a whole other kettle of fish!). If this current solar eclipse was total, I wonder if we all would be literally lit up like Christmas trees - zapping lamps, blowing out light bulbs, and overloading the circuits of appliances as we walked by them! Either way, DNA mutations could actually occur from all that incoming. Prepare for intense illuminating downloads - they will be legion - and back up your brain just in case. The new cultural paradigm is being channeled through YOU, so take note of the urgent messages you receive. This eclipse series is a (w)rite of passage, meaning: write down what blasts into your consciousness - that is, if you can capture and hold a lightning bolt in your hand! {You can, right? Good~:} Grounding is essential, as we talked about last August under another white-hot set of Aquarian/Leo eclipses. (Remember when I said: ground yourself and grab a hold of the bolt? That applies here as well) If you are in the Southern hemisphere and/or have access to hospitable temps (Australia and Southern California, stop gloating! LoL) then do the usual grounding things: feet on the earth, go for a walk in the woods, put your hands in the earth via gardening and blah blah blah.
However, if you are frozen-in like some of us, you can do indoor grounding things: eat root vegetables and hearty soups, make sure you get enough protein, wear lower-chakra colors (black, brown, red, orange, and also emerald green, a beautiful earth color), use grounding crystals and stones in the same colors I just mentioned. (Black tourmaline comes to mind.) P.S. It's always a good idea, when feeling ungrounded/spacey, to wear socks and underwear in these grounding colors for a day-and-night long stabilizing backdrop. Try it, it's fun~: If you need a pick-me-up (cause you were up all night!) - instead of coffee, consider green tea, which is a kinder, gentler and more healthy form of caffeine. Yoga is a PERFECT indoor grounding tool - that goes without saying! Pull out your yoga CDs and knock yourself out... in a meditative way, of course~: If you do go out for a walk, just be careful - bundle up, the wind-chill is dangerous RE frost bite, and wear shoes with good tread, to prevent slip-sliding away. Another excellent indoor grounding tool: take a sea salt bath (you can use Epsom salts for an economical alternative). And if you have indoor exercise equipment, definitely use it; especially a treadmill, elliptical or bicycle - anything that pulls the energy down into your legs and into the space under your feet - a little less emphasis on upper-body work for now. Oh and it gets better: to add uber-intensity to insomniac sizzle, that most Aquarian of planets, Uranus - Mr. Lightning Bolt himself - will be squaring off yet again with the planet of 'no, I want to keep everything the way it is darnit!' - Ye Olde Saturn. This smack-down will occur on Feb 5, right smack-dab in the whirling dervish known as "The Time Between Eclipses".
Remember the Saturn-Uranus face-off situation? You should, because this is the second round of this heavyweight match. The Saturn-Uranus gauntlet created the baffling energy of Election Day November 4, 2008. Nearly all astrologers I know (including me, Carol all-bets-are-off Ciocco) said: it's too close to call as to who will win: the revolutionary change agent or the guardian of the status quo. A sea of Neptunian ecstasy ensued as we chose something shocking: the first African American president of the United States of America. No matter what your politics, let's face it: that's change. Also: keep in mind that the Inauguration of this President-elect (have you heard of him? His name is Barack Obama) takes place in the middle of all of this, on January 20. Yeah, the crowds will be ramped up and electrified to say the least. This energy is quick, hard to ground, and can create stunning shocking reversals in the blink of an eye. Combined with mercury retrograde, the zeitgeist of January-February 2009 (and indeed the entire year) is destabilizing, crackling with alchemical change-agents, and erratic. I hope Saturn is in charge of the inauguration security.
Maybe this newsletter will help all of us to propitiate the eclipse gods and exorcise (exercise?) the silly demons of restlessness, anxiety and unconscious insurgency. I won't be able to cover everything here, cause there is so much going on (as usual). I am just going to let spirit guide me to include what most needs to be shared to assist us (you and me) on our path of radical personal (r)evolution. Bless You, Transmute You, Love you, and
Gung Hei Fat Choy! (Congratulations and Be Prosperous!)

New Moon Annular Eclipse in Aquarius/Leo
Divining the Chart of the Eclipse
Monday January 26, 2009
Darkness at the break of noon / Shadows even the silver spoon / The handmade blade, the child's balloon / Eclipses both the sun and moon / To understand you know too soon / There is no sense in trying. - Bob Dylan, "It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)" 1965, 1993
"When the right eye and left eye of Horus become one, all will be revealed." - Egyptian Book of the Dead. The left eye of Horus symbolizes the moon and the right eye symbolizes the sun. The Eye of Horus is an ancient amulet for protection, strength and health. This is so because these attributes come from a balance of forces (an integration of duality). The New Moon Annular Solar Eclipse at 6 degrees 30 minutes Aquarius/Leo occurs on Monday January 26, 2009 at 2:55am. An Annular Eclipse shows a narrow ring of the Sun visible beyond the dark mask of the Moon. The path of annularity begins off the coast of South Africa and moves east and north through the Indian Ocean and into Sumatra and Borneo. A partial eclipse will be visible throughout most of southern Africa, southeastern Asia, and western Australia. For detailed and scientific info on the 2009 eclipses, including this one, go to http://tinyurl.com/9tlrku Here are some of my thoughts on the eclipse chart, cast for Washington DC USA, the twin mecca (along with Wall Street) of the Corporatocracy: At the time of this eclipse, Pluto is at a new degree - 3 Capricorn, which it hasn't touched for about 250 years. A fresh new degree now being turned over in the Capricorn soil. The Sabian Symbol for this degree is " A human soul, in its eagerness for new experiences, seeks embodiment." Dane Rudhyar says this symbol shows us that "what is behind all uses of power [constructive or destructive] is a strong desire to prove oneself." This is the setting of the stage for the Capricorn Era as expressed in 2009. We are eager to incarnate, to throw our hat in the ring, to run off and join the circus. Look, Ma! Look what I can do! Our drive for power while incarnate comes from our desire to prove our worth (which doesn't need to be proven, btw, that's part of the illusion). This underpinning for our power drive may or may not (up to us) be revised over the next 16 years. The concept of Power in our Institutions - power fueled by those ruthlessly and greedily seeking it, and tenaciously (even brazenly) holding on to it - is on the table now. Dig in! The grounding Capricorn planets - Pluto, Mars and Mercury - are not in contact (unaspected) with the other planets. Hm, interesting. No wonder we are having bizarre Uranian sleep disturbances! The Capricorn bedrock, a bit of firm footing, isn't quite as accessible - so the grounding isn't quite as easy. The only other grounding force under this eclipse comes from Saturn, sitting at the tippy-top of the chart. Yes, The Saturn Stands Alone. Up there in the down-to-earth, day-to-day reality sign of Virgo, Saturn is like Zeus casting the lightning bolt gauntlet of evolution down to Humanity. It's a throw-down, a calling-out, from the world stage, and from the land of Capricorn: corporations, government, society's large structured institutions. Father Time and the Grandmother Elders lay down a challenge to our values, our self-value and sense of worth, our possessions and money, as well as our thinking and communication. Do we want to throw more money into the Bailout Black Hole? What do we value? Are we worth the effort it takes to stand up and speak for what we want? Why are we afraid to speak up? Why are we so lethargic? Why don't we have more of a grip on our own government and industry? What are we going to DO about the economy? Two face-offs (oppositions) in this chart form an X. "X Marks the Spot" of the moon's karmic axis. The Moon's Dragon-Head and Dragon-Tail collaborate with the whole Saturn-Uranus thing I described above. Evolution away from archaic ways into the futuristic less-traveled road of our Destiny - that is the sweet spot this X marks. A change would do you good; in fact more and more change will hit the spot, as it were. Myswell jump on board - it's coming anyway! In this eclipse chart, there is a nagging, uncomfortable relationship (like a thorn in our side) between Saturn (the structure builder/taskmaster) and our woundedness (Chiron). We are afraid to wash clean our wounds with radical compassion. Instead of letting the fear stop us, we are asked to brainstorm ( all this Aquarian energy is nothing if not a BRAIN STORM) ideas on how to structure the painful process of cleaning out our collective and personal wounds. The continuing violent conflict in the Middle East, which re-erupted in December, is an example on the collective level of how much we resist looking at and healing old wounds. Macrocosm, Microcosm. The Lovely Venus (i.e. the feminine aspects of our psyche) is in Pisces now and is helping us to cope with the intense Aquarian energies. Remember: We Are All One. Have Compassion for your sister and brother humans. Go deep inside in meditation, allowing the lightning to alight on the still waters within. Call on Quan Yin, the Angels and other Celestial helpers to guide your through this time of change. This will set the tone for 2009. Remember: 'one kind word can warm 3 winter months.' ~ japanese proverb The Moon Mansion (Vedic sidereal astrology) of this new moon/solar eclipse is Mansion 22, Shravana, The Moon of Listening. The symbol associated with this mansion is a Footprint, and is ruled by the god VISHNU, who spanned the universe with three gigantic steps. One small step for the 21st century, three giant steps for Humanity.

A Child Born Out of An Eggshell
7 Aquarius: Transmutation Exo Ovo Omnia - everything from an egg
The purest forms of a cultural system always appear as it decays. When a system is ailing, its believers try to strip away its contradictions and inconsistencies, leaving a system that is more pure, more rigid, and hence more fragile. - Philip Slater Under this new moon, both the sun and the moon are at 6 degrees 30 minutes Aquarius. Because I was taught to always 'round up,' this means the degree of this eclipse/new moon is 7 Aquarius. The Sabian Symbol for 7 Aquarius is: " A child born out of an eggshell." When I first saw this, I got butterflies in my stomach! This degree/symbol is very significant to me. For one thing, this degree/symbol has been my favorite of all the 360 Sabian Symbols for some 15 years now - ever since my 'astrological mother' Maya del Mar (who is now deceased and we all miss her) called attention to it in her writings way back when. This degree is, for me, the epitome of the Aquarian Age that we are moving into now. To illuminate this for you, I am going to share all that Dane Rudyhar has to say about this degree/symbol (from his classic work "An Astrological Mandala"): Keynote: 'The emergence of new mutations according to the great rhythms of the cosmos.' The ancient symbolism of the Cosmic Egg (Hiranyagharba in Sanskrit) out of which a new universe is born can be interpreted at several levels. Here we see the appearance of a new type of human being who is not born from 'Ancestors' and who therefore is free from the inertia of mankind's past. He is a new product of evolution, a mutant. He constitutes a fresh projection of the creative Spirit that emanates from the cosmic or planetary Whole, and not from any local culture and/or racial tradition. This symbol announces the Emergence of the Global Human for the New Age. The power of the whole is focused within him in perfect freedom from ancient standards of value based on local conditions. - Dane Rudyhar This person has no belly button. (Where WILL she put that belly-button ring, LoL) This person does not carry the weight of the karma of the mother and father (which fed into the Dan Tien or power center at the sacral chakra via the umbilical cord). This child is free of the shackles and the weight of plodding ancestral lineage. However, this is not Invitro-fertilization (which feels cold and motherless); this isthe spontaneous Creation of a new species from Spirit, a bursting forth of something entirely new, a quantum leap, a timeline jump. The Mother Creator of All, The Creatrix, births and nurtures this egg. This is akin to the moment that amphibians first emerged from the sea and BAM became land walkers. How did this happen? What kind of spiritual alchemical spark fueled this seemingly sudden and radical new lifeform. This person is a DNA mutation. This person is the butterfly emerging from the caterpillar, a completely different animal. This person is the founding (foundling) child of the evolved and evolving human species. The Great Creatrix Maternal Egg spontaneously combusts and Universes breathe their first breath. Do you feel weird and like an alien sometimes? Of course you do, standing in this electrical storm. Aquarius is, by its very nature, weird and peculiar. It is alien and way out ahead of its time, sometimes to the point of terrifying the mainstream culture with its ideas. The steps that Aquarius takes into the future take a while for all of Humanity to integrate. We are in the process of such a step now. The forces of the status-quo (including those within ourselves) are terrified. Yet, the forces of relentless evolutionary change are as unstoppable and uncontainable as a bolting horse bucking its way out of a stable. Wild and primordial, the new pushes up out of the old. For a radical, mind-blowing (maybe crazy?) definitely weird, wild and hard-to-digest Aquarian view of the future, check this out; it's called The Venus Project: http://www.thevenusproject.com, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacque_Fresco These concepts are very Atlantean, btw, which is kind of odd and creepy - as well as spellbinding - for me. Aquarius, you freak me out.) I found out about the Venus Project in the" Zeitgeist Addendum" video. You may want to watch the whole movie, but if you just want to see the part about the Venus Project, go to this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5r6-o1lpJHU and scroll to the 54:00 minute mark (about half-way through the video) for a compelling discussion of this radical vision of the future. Further videos can be found here: http://tinyurl.com/9b38qf Another Sabian Symbol expert, Lynda Hill, uses this phrase when discussing 7 Aquarius: " the matrix and the casket." This phrase is uncanny and primordial, and resonates deeply with our times. Picture the character Neo (which means NEW) at the end of Part 1 of " The Matrix" trilogy . In the very last scene, after Neo is kissed by Trinity (the triple Primordial Egg energy of All That Is) and blessed with Her Love, he morphs into something else entirely. This causes him to wake up to see the illusion of the world that he thought was real. He stops bullets in mid-air and then merges his energy with 'the dark' side, the Corporatocracy Agent who is his nemesis. Then (I love this part) he flexes his muscles and the illusory walls move with him - as if an egg is being split open. That is a 7 Aquarius experience if ever there was one. The matrix is seen for what it is, and the casket is cast aside like an egg shell. Here are some profound ancient quotes from Humanity's pondering on where we all came from, compiled by Lynda Hill in her book "The Sabian Symbols As An Oracle": In the beginning, all the universe was non-being. It became being. It grew and formed an egg, which remained unbroken for a year. Then it broke open. Of the two halves of the shell, one was of silver and the other of gold. - The Upanishads First there was the Great Cosmic Egg. Inside the egg was chaos. Floating in the chaos was P'an Ku, the undeveloped divine embryo. - Huai-nan Tzu 'Exo Ovo omnia.' Everything from an egg. - William Harvey The shell must break before the bird can fly. - Lord Alfred Tennyson

Transcending the Bull
The Year of the Ox The Brown Earth Cow
Be clear, though - change is a necessity now and not an option. Our outer and inner worlds are evolving at a rapid and ever-increasing pace, and resistance will only delay the inevitable. This is a time of letting go and riding the wave of conscious awareness and allowing our lives to unfold in new ways. - Lynn Hayes
The Chinese New Year occurs on the New Moon in the first Lunar month of the Chinese Calendar. In this case, it is the same day as the eclipse: January 26, 2009. I don't have time or space in this newsletter to go into the Chinese New Year in detail. I hope to write more about it - and offer a quick overview for the year - in a future newsletter. Hopefully before the end of time! {i.e. 2012:} Here is a website with some info: Look up your personal sign: http://www.chinesefortunecalendar.com/newyeardays.htm Details on 2009 - The Year of the Ox, aka The Year of the Brown Earth Cow http://www.chinesefortunecalendar.com/2009.htm For more info, just type some of the above keywords into Google and surf to your heart's content! Gloria Star writes: the eclipse date marks "the beginning of the Chinese Lunar Year 4707. The qualities of the Ox - patient, stubborn, hard-working, and kind - are likely to be seen as strengths. More significantly, this is an "Earth Ox" year, suggesting an even stronger need for conservative, focused, hard work as the best means to achieve success." - Gloria Star Yes, the Chinese calendar is definitely in alignment with our solar system's astrology. The Ox is Capricorn incarnate, and we are starting a brand-spanking-new (Pluto in) Capricorn era during this particular year of the Ox. From the Treehugger.com blog: " Herding the ox is a parable for students of Zen Buddhism. The story draws a parallel between the individual path to enlightenment and the story of the herder and his missing ox. There are 10 stages in the parable, beginning with the search for the ox. Here we see that the ox's "great will and power" are inexhaustible and that he is capable of a "terrific struggle." When we discover that we are the only source of his energy the "struggle" will be over. Although he is always with you, you can't turn around fast enough to see him. Now you've caught him, he can no longer hide. Still, he seems insubordinate, used to his old ways, searching for new satisfactions while remaining always unsatisfied. You think you can whip him into obedience, yet another illusion!" The Ox is also known as the Bull, a very stubborn animal, and also a sign of great abundance and prosperity, creature comforts and sensual delights. Wall Street calls a surging market the Bull market, in contrast to our current market which is definitely a Bear. More from the Treehugger blog, "some common themes of the Zen Buddhist Ox parable: 1. In Search of the Bull (aimless searching, only the sound of cicadas)
2. Discovery of the Footprints (a path to follow)
3. Perceiving the Bull (but only its rear, not its head)
4. Catching the Bull (a great struggle, the bull repeatedly escapes, discipline required)
5. Taming the Bull (less straying, less discipline, bull becomes gentle and obedient)
6. Riding the Bull Home (great joy)
7. The Bull Transcended (once home, the bull is forgotten, discipline's whip is idle; stillness)
8. Both Bull and Self Transcended (all forgotten and empty)
9. Reaching the Source (unconcerned with or without; the sound of cicadas)
10. Return to Society (crowded marketplace; spreading enlightenment by mingling with humankind) "But the story also seems to fit with our age, and how we deal with having to live with less, enjoying nature more, and generally trying to find values and ideas that can shape the future. Of course we hope that legislators and bankers will figure out how to fix the global financial system, so we can continue working towards sustainable energy and food solutions. If they can't herd in the Wall Street bull, we will quickly have to find local solutions that work better." - Treehugger.com blog

Inauguration Numerology January 20, 2009
"When 144,000 people have the same thought at the same time, a new timeline and in some cases, a dimensional shift, are created. What this means for Earth and her people is that many of the things, i.e. earth changes and wars, that would have occurred in our future, may not occur. That doesn't mean we are completely free of them; it just means that we have a greater chance of ensuring that they don't occur because there is so much energy to support us." - Jelaila Starr Many astrologers are writing about the energies of the historic Inauguration of President-Elect Obama on January 20, 2009. I'll leave the depth analysis to them; I just want to share some of the interesting numerology aspects that jumped out at me concerning this event.
Barack Obama will be the 44th President of the United States There are 77 days between Election Day November 4, 2008 and Inauguration Day January 20, 2009 The 111th Congress began January 6, 2009 and will end on January 3, 2011. The 4 is considered to be the Number of the Angels by many Angel Intuitives. The two 4's add up to 8, which is the number of power and prosperity. (Which - I think we all would agree - we truly need in these queasy economic times.) In addition, according to numerologist Kari Samuels, the 44 is also very Capricorn in its essence. She writes, "The 44 is the Atlas, the shouldering of heavy responsibilities. This number asks that we contribute to the world in a substantial, material way, by building structures that serve humanity." The number 7 has also been considered extremely auspicious in nearly every culture dating back into the mists of time. The 7 chakras are a prime example of the basic spiritual power of this number. I associate it with the Holy Spirit. Seven is peppered extensively throughout the Bible and is a key component in sacred geometry. It underpins the perfection of creation.
Finally, the number 111 (of the 111th Congress, which ends in 2011) is very close to that special number sequence 11:11, a gateway to other dimensions, and a doorway to manifestation. 11 is a Master Number, and it just so happens that the year 2009 is an eleven (2+0+0+9 = 11, hey look, I got the math right! Woo who!) This is a presidency and a year where our mastery will be put to the test. Within the abundance of double and triple-digit auspicious numbers, we can see a pattern beyond the surface. These numbers could be pointing out a unique warp and weave in the fabric of time that is worth our attention. P.S. I just happen to be 44 years old and my favorite number just happens to be 11:11. Also, I have 7 chakras and 7 different kinds of pasta in my cupboard. Coincidence? I think not. LoL |

Love Is Like a Red, Red Rose
Love is a Fire that can melt the iciest of hearts. It is a lightning bolt that can bring positive change to even the most corrupt systems. Looking ahead to Valentines Day, why not give yourself or someone you love a rose today to bring more Love into your life?
The ROSE is a powerful healer for those who are "sick at heart," grief-stricken, or lack self-esteem. Rose oil or incense is a good remedy; but if at all possible bring real roses into your home, they are a balm to your Soul. There is a reason why people send flowers, and especially roses, to those who are ill or grieving - the flowers themselves help us to heal. Roses in particular are a very high vibration and emit a powerful healing energy to all in their presence.

Roses have FIVE petals with the exception of Rosa sericea which often has only four. The numberFIVE is associated with the Planet of Love - VENUS - and is also associated with creating CHANGE in your life.
Red rose means love. Pink rose means grace or lesser feelings of love. Dark Pink rose means gratitude. Light Pink rose means admiration or sympathy. White rose means innocence, purity or friendship. Yellow rose means dying love or platonic love. Yellow with red tips rose means Friendship or falling in love. Orange rose means passion. Burgundy rose means beauty. Blue rose means mystery. Green rose means calm. Black rose means slavish devotion. Purple rose means protection.
