United Way reaches 82% of goal
|
Bryan, Ohio - December 22, 2009 - United Way of Williams County has reached the 82% mark of its $330,000 goal.
Since the drive began in September, the local United Way has received pledges and gifts totaling $272,180.
"The old adage 'when the going gets tough, the tough get going' is so appropriate for the 2009 United Way campaign. Williams County residents and companies have responded remarkably with gifts of money and time," said Tom and Dee Balser, Campaign 2009 co-chairs.
"However, the need continues to grow and in order for the United Way to meet the needs of Williams County residents throughout the coming year, we urge you to encourage your friends, family, and neighbors to help in any way possible in the coming weeks," said Mr. and Mrs. Balser.
Companies reporting results in the past several weeks include:
- Midwest Community Health Associates, with $16,206 in employee giving;
- First Federal Bank, with $7,960 in corporate and employee giving - the largest bank total;
- Bryan Ford Lincoln Mercury, with $5,444 contributed by the company and its employees;
- Ohio Gas Company, with $4,351 in corporate and employee giving;
- Bryan City Schools, with $4,127 in employee pledges;
- Chase Brass and Copper Company, with $4,016 in corporate and employee giving;
- Landmark Chevrolet, with $1,931 in employee giving;
- Johnson Controls Interior Manufacturing, with $1,931 in employee contributions;
- Northwestern Ohio Community Action Commission, with $1,503 in employee giving and special events;
- Kamco Industries, with $1,475 in corporate and employee giving; and
- New Era Ohio, with $946 in employee contributions.
In addition to those results which have been reported to the United Way office thus far, there are other corporate campaigns wrapping up. Officials encourage those companies still running campaigns to report totals to the United Way office as soon as possible.
It's not to late to give, according to the United Way.
"You can still make a gift to this year's United Way campaign," said Chris Malanga, Chief Executive Officer. "Even a gift of just $5 thorough our Give5 campaign can do wonders. Give 5 and tell 5 friends to do the same."
The Give5 website is www.letsgive5.org. Gifts may be mailed to P.O. Box 525, Bryan, Ohio 43506.
The United Way reminds individuals that the deadline for a contribution being tax deductible on the 2009 taxes is December 31, 2009. To facilitate end of year giving, the United Way office will be open until noon on both Christmas Eve and December 31st. The office will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
