United Way reaches halfway point

Bryan, Ohio - November 25, 2009 - United Way of Williams County has reached the halfway point of its  $330,000 goal.

Since the drive began in September, the local United Way has received pledges and gifts totaling $179,308 or 54% of goal. 

"It's great to hit this milestone," said Tom and Dee Balser, Campaign 2009 Chairs.  "While we have come very far, we still have a way to go.  We thank those that have already given and encourage others to give generously to the campaign."

Companies reporting results in the past two weeks include:
  • Spangler Candy Company, with corporate and employee pledges totaling $23,538;
  • TruFast, with corporate and employee pledges totaling $15,260.  This year the company matched employee gifts, and saw their campaign more than double;
  • Bard Manufacturing, with employee contributions of $7,010, and the corporate gift yet to be reported;
  • Daavlin with employee pledges of $2,612;
  • Northwest Ohio Community Action Commission, with employee pledges of $1,503; and 
  • City of Bryan/Bryan Municipal Utilities, with $831 in employee giving.
Additionally, the United Way received a gifts of $1,000 from the Pamida Foundation.

In addition to those results which have been reported to the United Way office thus far, there are other corporate campaigns currently underway.  The organization hopes to have those campaigns wrapped up in the next few weeks.  

"At Thanksgiving, we are especially grateful for your support of the United Way of Williams County," said Chris Malanga, Chief Executive Officer.  "It warms the heart to see so many people coming together in support of a cause that means so much to our communities."
 
  "If you haven't yet made your contribution, please do so soon. There is a great need out there, and it is only with your help that we are able to make a difference."
