Bryan, Ohio - January 6, 2009 - United Way of Williams County has been chosen as the recipient organization for the 2009 WBNO-WQCT Blizzard Auction, to be held Saturday, January 31st.
"We are very excited to have been chosen as the beneficiary for this long-running event," said Chris Malanga, Chief Executive Officer. "In this tough fund-raising climate, we are so thankful that WBNO-WQCT has given us this opportunity."
The auction will run from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on 100.9 FM and 1520 AM. It will be simulcast on Bryan Municipal Utilities Channel 4.
Items to be auctioned are currently being secured by United Way. Some items include a Nintendo Wii game system, Wii Fit, XM Radio, Ohio State tickets, restaurant certificates, and a condo in Cancun. A full list of auction items will be available on the United Way web site at www.unitedwaywc.org sometime in the next two weeks.
Those wishing to bid on auction items are strongly encouraged to register for a bid number prior to the auction date by calling a special hotline set up by the United Way. That number is 419-216-2055.
If local businesses or individuals are interested in donating items to the auction, they should contact the United Way office at 419-636-8603.
This year's event will be the 30th Annual WBNO-WQCT Blizzard Auction. The Blizzard Auction commemorates the blizzard that hit Williams County in 1978.
Funds raised during the 2009 event will benefit the 32 partner agencies of the United Way of Williams County. Agencies work to strengthen families, promote health and wellness, care for people in crisis, and empower families. Last year, more than 17,000 Williams County residents were touched by a United Way-funded program or service.
