United Way crosses $275,000 threshold, nears 75% of goal
Bryan, Ohio - December 24, 2008 - At the Christmas holiday, the United Way of Williams County has crossed the $275,000 mark and is currently at 73% of its $375,000 fund-raising goal, officials announced Wednesday.

"This has been a great week," said Chris Malanga, Chief Executive Officer.  "Our total has continued to grow, and we are now less than $100,000 away from reaching our goal."

"If you've already given to United Way, thank you!  If not, now is the time," added Malanga.

Individuals wanting to make their contribution count in tax year 2008 must have their contribution into the United Way office in person or by mail by December 31st.

Malanga said the the United Way office would be open until noon on New Years Eve for last minute pledges and contributions.

Companies recently reporting their results to the United Way include:  A-Stamp/AutoCoat, Anderson Vreeland, Bryan Ford Lincoln Mercury, Community Compassion, Compassion Medical Clinic, Daavlin, Grace Community Church, Ingersoll Rand, Isaac Properties, Landmark Chevrolet, Ohio Gas Company, the Sanctuary of Williams County and Williams County Employees.

While the United Way thanks all the companies who have turned their results in, officials note that there are several large industrial campaigns that are underway and have not yet reported, or have not yet started.

"We strongly encourage all companies to make their final push and get results reported back to the United Way office," said Malanga.

The organization is concerned about companies turning campaigns in after the first of the year, and thus missing out on payroll deduction collections in January.

Dollars raised in the 2008 Campaign will benefit the 32 partner agencies of the United Way of Williams County.  Agencies are reporting an increased demand for services due to the softness of the economy.
