United Way crosses $200,000 threshold, reaches 57% of goal

Bryan, Ohio - December 12, 2008 - As we reach the middle of December, the United Way of Williams County has crossed the $215,000 mark and is currently at 57% of its $375,000 fund-raising goal, officials announced Friday.
"Everybody knows the need for United Way services is greater than ever this year," said Tom Voigt, co-chair of the appeal. "We urge everybody to pull together and help us help your neighbors."
"If you haven't already given to United Way, now is the time. We have many very caring people in Williams County," said co-chair Wendy Voigt, adding, "We can do this!"
Companies recently reporting their results to the United Way include: Bard Manufacturing, Bryan Metals, Midwest Community Health Associates, and Potter, Inc.
While the United Way thanks all the companies who have turned their results in, officials note that there are several large industrial campaigns that are underway and have not yet reported, or have not yet started.
"We strongly encourage all companies to make their final push and get results reported back to the United Way office," said Chris Malanga, Chief Executive Officer.
The organization is concerned about companies turning campaigns in after the first of the year, and thus missing out on payroll deduction collections in January.
Malanga said the the United Way office would be open until noon on both Christmas Eve and New Years Eve for last minute pledges and contributions.
"Individuals wanting to make their contribution count in tax year 2008 must have their contribution into our office in person or by mail by December 31st," Malanga said.
Dollars raised in the 2008 Campaign will benefit the 32 partner agencies of the United Way of Williams County. Agencies are reporting an increased demand for services due to the softness of the economy.
