United Way reaches 42% of goal
|
Bryan, Ohio - November 26, 2008 - At the Thanksgiving holiday, the United Way of Williams County is near the $160,000 mark and is currently at 42% of its $375,000 fund-raising goal, officials announced Wednesday.
"We are slowly seeing our goal thermometer rise," said Chris Malanga, Chief Executive Officer. "But, we have a lot of work to do to reach our goal and provide for our Williams County neighbors in need."
Malanga noted that fund-raising efforts at several local companies have concluded, but other campaigns are starting next week.
Companies reporting their results to the United Way include: Allied Moulded Products, Andres O'Neil and Lowe Agency,
Behringer,
Herman & Eckhardt DDS,
Bryan
City Schools,
Bryan
Rotary Club,
Edon
State Bank Company, F & M State Bank, First Federal Bank, ITW/Tomco, Kamco, L.E. Smith Company,
The Bryan Times, and TRUFAST.
While the United Way thanks all of its previous givers, "we are also working to spread our base of contributors," stated
Malanga. "In this tough economy, it is important that everyone pitch
in, especially those who have never given before. As the economy worsens, the need for our services grows."
Donors have begun to answer the call, as United Way is seeing an increase in new donors to the campaign. New Era Ohio in Bryan is the first new industrial company to run an employee campaign in 2008. United Way hopes that there will be others.
Dollars raised in the 2008 Campaign will benefit the 32 partner agencies of the United Way of Williams County. Agencies are reporting an increased demand for services due to the softness of the economy.
