United Way exceeds goal for fifth straight year
Total raised sets new record
Bryan, Ohio - February 1, 2008 - Thanks to the generosity of nearly 1,500 Williams County companies, employees and individuals, the United Way campaign has exceeded its goal for the fifth straight year.
With some campaigns still in progress, pledges and contributions to date total $393,712. That amounts to 107.8 percent of the $365,000 goal and is a new record for dollars raised in Williams County. 32 local agencies will benefit from the appeal.
Under the leadership of Dave and Cindy Castor and their campaign team, the appeal targeted firms and their employees, direct mail, and leadership givers. Special efforts were also made to reach out to those outside Bryan, reminding them that United Way serves people throughout the county.
"Williams County is an amazing place to live and work," said Cindy Castor. "To exceed our goal for the fifth straight year shows that our community truly cares for each one of its residents." David Castor echoed his wife's sentiments and said, "Edgerton, Edon, Holiday City, Montpelier, Pioneer, Stryker, West Unity, and Bryan... every Williams County community has shown the caring power of the United Way."
Chris Malanga, United Way CEO, explained that the new Caring Club program was a positive factor for this campaign. "We had more than 525 individuals in Williams County join the Caring Club with gifts of $120 or more," said Malanga. "We are excited about this program and look forward to it growing each year." Malanga noted that the Caring Club cards will be mailed out to eligible donors in late February.
