Greetings!
Welcome to Issue #2 of "As the Thermometer Rises 2007." It's hard to believe, but as I compose this note, it's a football Friday, big rivalry game in Bryan vs. Montpelier, it's 83 degrees and many of our Williams County schools had delays or closings today. What is going on?!?
What is going on with our United Way is that we've reached 15% of our goal, thanks to the efforts of our pacesetter companies. Our bags of materials are being delivered and campaigns all across the county are continuing.
I truly hope you enjoy reading this newsletter this week, and I also hope it provides you with some good information to help you this fall. Now, without further adieu, on with Issue #2 (hey, that rhymed!)

What the heck's a three-legged stool approach?
If you were at one of our Account Executive or Employee Campaign Coordinator trainings, you know the answer to this.
A three-legged stool approach is how we always should be conducting campaigns. First, we should be seeking to conduct an employee campaign with leadership giving. Next, we should ask for a corporate contribution. Those two things have always been part of our campaigns in Williams County.
But the third thing we cannot forget are special events - the third leg of the stool. Without them, the campaign, much like the stool, will not be strong. Special events help build "esprit du corps" among employees and help those who are not in a position to make a gift through payroll deduction to participate as well.
We have lots of great ideas for special events... check out our website for the entire listing.
