Greetings!
It's hard to believe it's that time of year again, but campaign season is upon us!
The 2007 United Way of Williams County campaign kicked off last night at the Williams County Fair. Chairs Dave and Cindy Castor joined children from each of our communities, releasing balloons to kick off the United Way campaign.
This is the first issue of our weekly eNewsletter... hope you enjoy it!

Campaign kicks off at the fair
Last night, prior to the Youth Night Activities at the Williams County Fair, the United Way kicked off its 2007 appeal. Children from each of our Williams County school districts wore United Way t-shirts in their school colors, and released balloons to signify the start of the campaign.
Children participating in the event were Veronica Roth (Hilltop), Tyler Seaman (Edon), Jordan Harris (Bryan), Katie Lehman (Montpelier), Jacque Herman (Edgerton), Kollin Wollace (Stryker) and Cory Sellers (North Central).

Pacesetter companies generate $46,973
This year, United Way held a small Pacesetter Campaign to "prime the pump" for the 2007 appeal. Thanks to the efforts of Bryan Ford Lincoln Mercury, Isaac Properties, Spangler Candy Company, United Way of Williams County, and the Williams County Public Library, we have already generated $46,973 for the campaign - nearly 13 percent of goal.

Special events important - just ask Spangler Candy
We like to consider the campaign a "three-legged stool" with employee giving, corporate giving and special events. Spangler Candy Company took special events to extreme with employees paying money to dunk upper management, including Dean Spangler. They raised more than $800 on that alone!
How can you incorporate special events into your campaign? Check out our special events guide for details. You can also view more photos from Spangler's on our web site.
