Greetings!

We've got an abbreviated issue today as we are busy with trying to wrap up the campaign. Enjoy this issue!

  • Vacation, jeans days help increase First Federal Bank campaign
  • Employees of First Federal Bank in Bryan and Montpelier generated $3,928 in contributions, an increase over the previous year. Campaign manager Cindy Castor gave a "free" vacation day to anyone who donated $100 or more to the campaign. Additionally, the branches conducted special events, including jeans days.

First Federal kicked in a corporate gift of $3,200 for a grand total of $7,128.94.

Thanks to Cindy and all the employees of First Federal for 100% participation during this year's United Way campaign.

  • Potter, Inc. increases their campaign total $1,700 over last year
  • Employees of Potter, Inc. contributed $5,265 to the United Way appeal this fall. Led by campaign manager Steve Voigt, Potter utilized employee meetings to encourage giving. Representatives from the United Way and Big Brothers Big Sisters shared how contributions really matter to those in need in Williams County.

Among employee gifts were three leadership gifts of $500 or more. Potter, Inc. also contributed a $1,500 corporate gift to the campaign.

Thanks to Steve Voigt, John Joyce and all of the staff at Potter, Inc. for their support of United Way.

  • Is leadership giving a part of your campaign?
  • Did you know that donations to the Thomas M. Herman Leadership Giving Society made up almost 40% of Campaign 2005? This year's leadership giving total to date is $92,897 or 62% of our $150,000 leadership goal.

Individuals and spouses who contribute $500 or more to the United Way of Williams County each year are enrolled as leadership givers.

Please promote leadership giving within your company. For as little as $9.62 per week, someone can make a difference in a huge way.

  • We included a publication entitled Special Event Sparks! in campaign packets this year. It was our hope that companies would take a "three-legged stool" approach to the campaign this year - a corporate gift, employee payroll deduction, and special events.

Many companies have used some of these ideas to help "beef up" their campaigns this year. Other companies have used their "tried and true" special events.

Whatever your special event or other Best Practice, we want to hear about it. Please email us with your story, and include a photo or two if applicable. By doing so, you can help other companies succeed in their campaigns.
