United Way continues its campaign to raise $350,000!
This week we've continued our campaign activities.
Radio ads continue on WBNO, WQCT and WLZZ. Bill
Pepple was the guest of Andy Brigle on WQCT this
morning. Bill and Chris teamed up to present to the
Bryan Kiwanis and Chris met with the Williams County
Labor Council. Next week, we will be presenting to
many of the senior centers in the
county. This is all a part of our campaign to remind
people that we assist all over the
county!
We hope that your internal campaigns have started by
now. If not, please let us know that, and start
them ASAP. We'd like to get all results in by
mid-December since our campaign awards will be in
January next year.

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library threatened with postage increase

The U.S. Postal Service plans a postal increase in
May. Along with that are some proposed changes that,
if passed, would triple the postage rates for
the Imagination Library program. We need you to
speak out on this issue.
There are a number of ways you can help. You can
write letters to your state and U.S. Senators and
Representatives, send email and call them. You can
write directly to the USPS. There is even a web
form where you can leave your comments for the
Postal Service. Check the link below... whatever
you can do to help would be appreciated!

How you can help |

Here's how your dollars helped last year...

Over the past seven years, Cindy and her husband
Larry have volunteered with the Big Brothers Big
Sisters of Williams County as mentors to a young
boy. Cindy and Larry were looking for something in
which to place their energies and have a significant
impact in someone?s life.
Cindy reports that their decision to mentor a youth
has positively impacted their "little?s" family as
well as their own. Their own sons watched as their
Dad became important to another little boy. They
learned to share their dad and also mentor the
"little" themselves.
The time spent each week seems insignificant, but
it?s a huge blessing that Larry is able to be a
concerned male figure in his "little?s" life. Cindy
says that when you choose to give of yourself you
get back ten-fold, and that?s why this family is a
part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.

Help out Habitat for Humanity!

Williams County Habitat for Humanity - a United Way
agency - along with First Energy, will be conducting
their first ever double "Building Blitz" at 7:30
a.m. on October 21st, 2006. The building sites are
503 Woodville Road and 303 Grove Street in Edon,
Ohio. The lots are beside each other.
The goal for the day is to have the houses framed,
sheathed, roofed and sealed weather-tight so that
work can continue into the winter. Volunteers
throughout Williams County are needed to help the
contractor and Habitat for Humanity. Volunteers at
any skill level are welcome, come at any time during
the day, and we encourage you to participate in this
fun and rewarding event. So grab your favorite
tools (hammer, tape measure, pencil, smile, etc.)
and come join the fun. Snacks, coffee and lunch
will be provided.
Whether you can come all day or can?t come ?till
noon, the board of directors of Habitat for Humanity
depends on and greatly appreciates the support of
volunteers to build homes in Williams County. We
look forward to an exciting day of house building on
Saturday, October 21st, 2006. See you at the
building blitz! Listen to local radio stations
for rainout information. Any questions, contact
Steve Collins at 419-636-4103.
