NAIFA-Texas Gives 21st Century Plan a Second Look
Without endorsing specifics of the plan or the mechanism to fund it, the NAIFA-TX Board, at its meeting July 15 in Austin, agreed to continue the discussion regarding various components of the NAIFA in the 21st Century proposals.
Following the receipt of additional information by NAIFA President John Davidson at the NAIFA-Texas annual meeting, NAIFA-Texas leaders resolved to continue the exchange of ideas and feedback with other state leaders prior to the National Delegate Council meeting in Washington, D.C., in September.

Delegates Approve Texas' Contingent Dues Increase
The NAIFA-Texas Delegate Council gathered in Austin on July 14, 2007 to conduct its annual business meeting; and, among other items on its agenda, the council approved a bylaws proposal that would increase dues at the state level by $24 if a dues increase is approved at the national level as a funding mechanism for the NAIFA in the 21st Century proposals.
When the 21st Century plan was rolled out in greater detail at NAIFA's National Leadership Conference in April, NAIFA CEO David Woods projected as much as a 17% decline in membership as a result of a dues increase at the national level. Based on those projections, the NAIFA-Texas Board proposed a bylaws amendment that would protect NAIFA-Texas from the devastating revenue loss that would accompany such a precipitous decline in membership.
Although NAIFA leadership has since tempered their projections for membership loss, the NAIFA-Texas Delegate Council voted to approve a dues increase based on the initial projection of decline. The approved dues increase will only take effect upon the effective date of a dues increase at the national level.
