From the Directors
How can it be that 4 weeks have come and gone in the blink of an eye? It seems like yesterday that the first buses were arriving and we were starting the summer of 2012 together! Week 4 was an exciting one, with highlights including the Anaf/Bayit Parent Visitation, Camp Shalom's Hooked on Hockey program, "Guys & Dolls" (the first Camp Aaron show of the summer), Chaverim's trip to Lake George, the Gesher CIT shore trip & overnight, and of course camp-wide CARNIVAL DAY! But there is still so much more to come!
For those who are four-weekers, we wish you a great rest of the summer and hope to see you again next summer! For those wishing to add weeks, you may email Pam Parker, Camp Registrar, at firstname.lastname@example.org and she will gladly arrange the extension.
Shabbat Shalom and have a great weekend!
NOTICE ABOUT GESHER CIT'S
Dear Camp Parent -
We hope your child is having a great summer! We wanted you to be aware that to provide a more well rounded experience for our counselors in training (CITs), they are rotating through two assignments this summer. In most instances, this means that today is the last day in the current position for your child's CIT, and there likely will be an new CIT in the bunk beginning Monday. We hope that your child has had a great experience with their CIT and will enjoy getting to know a new CIT as well! Thanks!

Happy in the Hilltop!
Hilltop has had a fun-filled four weeks! In Kosher Cooking, messy faces were everywhere as we made delicious rich chocolate cupcakes with icing, as they discussed "spreading the words of Jewish heroes." Our Little Scientists enjoyed making play dough. To add to our bugs at Camp, Arts & Crafts made adorable insects out of matchboxes. At Usable Arts, campers created friendship bracelets using beads and symbols that express kindness. At Games, the campers tested their throwing abilities by seeing who can throw foam airplanes the furthest while working on correcting their form. Dance was in full motion where campers learned some new moves, such as ballroom, swing and salsa (did you know that Arthur Murray was a great Jewish dance instructor and taught many people including Eleanor Roosevelt and Jack Dempsey?). Hilltop Sports turned into a water park this week with all activities surrounded by water to keep our Hilltoppers cool.
Carnival Day was on Thursday and the Camp Hilltop sports field transformed in to an amusement park, featuring a ferris wheel ride, Disney playhouse and more. Our arcade included bean bag toss, fishing pond, knock the cans, fortune teller booth, tattoos, face painting, sack races and popcorn toss. EBE Entertainment DJ'd our dance party and we really showed off our moves.
It was our final parent visitation when Anaf and Bayit families visited camp, and we introduced our parents and grandparents to our new friends and showed off our skills and talent in different activities.
Next week we celebrate Israel week at camp and our Geza/Elon campers enjoy an evening at Pump It Up. We are excited for another busy Hilltop week ahead!
So many memories are being made...we can't wait to share the next four weeks with your children!
Sizzlin' in Shalom
We had a great Week 4 in Camp Shalom! In Mad Science we experimented with "magic" pennies. Arts and Crafts created buddy bags that included words of inspiration. Digital Photography took photos inspired by great Jewish heroes. Our "Beatles Love" theater performance is in full swing and our actors and actresses are working hard practicing for their big night! We had a fabulous "Hooked on Hockey" clinic run by our very own Philadelphia Flyers alum Bob Kelly. The biggest highlight of the week was of course carnival day on Thursday! Our special day included inflatables in the pool, a midway and special field games. Our Jerusalem and Tel Aviv Pavilion was transformed into our very own "marvelous" Midway of games. The dance party and DJ, provided by EBE Entertainment, SpongeBob moon bounce, rubber chicken toss, hula hoop contest, tattoos, and face painting are just a few of the many games campers enjoyed playing. The Shalom pool became quite a party with three inflatable slides and Rock It Entertainment provided music and games. Dancing could be seen everywhere, even in the water! The slides were themed courses that stretched across the entire pool. On the sports field, campers participated in Carnival Day relays. Carnival day was a fun-filled, amazing, spectacular day!
Next week, we are looking forward to the Haifa/Eilat late stay on Tuesday, June 24th at the International Sports Center in Cherry Hill (located behind the water tower off of Kresson Road), and to Camp Shalom Israel Day on Friday. Things just keep heating up in Camp Shalom!
Shabbat Shalom-have a wonderful weekend!

Action Packed Aaron
It's Amazing in Camp Aaron!
The thermostat might hover at 100 degrees, but Camp Aaron campers are super cool! Our theater majors kicked off the week with a day of rehearsal at the JCC to put the finishing touches of their week 4 production. Then, they wowed their audience with a stellar performance of "Guys & Dolls, Jr". We are so proud of our future Academy Award winners!
The heat dropped just in time for us to enjoy a fabulous Carnival Day filled with lots of games and water fun activities. The Aaron flagpole featured water relays and games all day while the rest of Aaron featured carnival games, air brush tattoos and photo frames & karaoke with EBE Entertainment. Our campers were also treated to a magic show where he shared some of his "tricks of the trade" with each division.
Our Shlichim are busy preparing a fun-filled Israel Day for Camp Aaron on Wednesday, July 25th. The Arad division is still collecting permission slips for their overnight on Thursday, July 26th.
As we sadly say goodbye to our 1st session campers, we welcome our new Aaron campers that start with us on Monday.
Have a great Camp Aaron weekend!

We are on the MOVE
Did you miss us? What an amazing trip to Lake George we had! We white water rafted, went to the Great Escape Fun Park, enjoyed a Shoreline Dinner Cruise, and wrapped it up with a stop at Cooperstown National Baseball Hall of Fame. We ended the week with a day at the movies, where we chilled out and got to see a good flick. We'll take it easy next week, with trips to Atsion Lake, Funplex, the Phillies, Hurricane Harbor, and the Franklin Institute. Lots of amazing trips to come!

Gesher Going GREAT!
Week 4 was a blast for the Gesher CITs!
We started out the week with a new "Skill of the Week" - Enthusiasm, which highlights the importance of always having a positive attitude, looking upbeat and modeling good sportsmanship.
Wednesday we visited Ocean City where we enjoyed a beautiful sunny day on the beach, the boardwalk and the rides. We had a pizza dinner at the Margate JCC and finished the night with activities back at the JCC in Cherry Hill and an overnight.
We finished out the week with a Shabbat program with Rabbi Arnow from Congregation Beth El where we had a great discussion on Leadership.
Now that we are at the half-way point of the summer, many of our CITs will be moving the their second assignments starting on Monday. We will also have each CIT give us their feedback on the CIT Program in order to make it the best program it can be.
We are looking forward to a fun filled Week 5, packed with CPR Training, a trip to the Phillies Game and workshop on Body Image.
As always, feel free to contact us with any questions!
Shabbat Shalom - have a great weekend!
