In the Broadway show RENT, the famous song talks about "five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes, moments so dear, how do you measure, measure a year?"
At Camp, we've had 8 weeks, 39 Days, 41 buses, 1500+ campers, 3 late stays, 2 skating parties, 5 overnights, 2 Chaverim extended trips, 4 parent visitations, 4 camp shows, 3 Israel days, 1 Carnival Day, 1 Ruach week, Sheldon Low, Israel Scouts, Maccabiah week, an amazing lip dub, dozens of Facebook and twitter posts, thousands of photos online, a Camp Aaron/Gesher CIT Swimathon, and many many moments so dear. But how do we measure, measure a year?
We believe the measure of Camp can be seen with the number of happy and safe children we have seen each day, with the number of new friendships that have formed and flourished at Camp, with the new activities that our campers have tried, with the new skills our campers have developed, with the values that we have instilled in our campers, with the sense of community we have created at Camp, and with the knowledge that we are all part of a JCC Camps at Medford family and its rich multi-generational tradition. We hope your child has enjoyed every moment of Camp and is already eager to return in 2012!
Thank you again for an amazing summer! Please stay connected with us through the great activities and programs at the Katz JCC and through our Facebook page.
It is customary during the Jewish High Holiday season to wish someone a Sha-na Tovah Oo'metookah - a good and sweet year. We wish all of our camp families a Sha-na Tovah Oo'metookah and we will see you June 25, 2012! In case you are counting, that's 311 days, 7464 hours, 447,840 minutes, or 26,870,400 seconds. We cannot wait!

Hilltop Happenings!
Another amazing summer has gone by. It was a wonderful summer filled with so many great memories.
Week 8 was dominated by our "Get Your Game On" Maccabiah. Arts and Crafts did the "Seashell Scramble," and each team painted the most seashells and lined them up in the shortest amount of time. Kosher Cooking did "Food Frenzy", with campers challenged to unwrap a tootsie roll and create edible buildings with a variety of food items. Games had "Road Warriors," riding scooters through a super highway and picking up treasures along the way. Freeze dance, musical dots, musical twister and hot potato kept our campers up and moving at Music Mania. At Nature, the campers had the Golden Nugget Extravaganza, searching for golden nuggets and earning extra points for finding gem colored rocks. Hilltoppers loved the Gan Grab bag - building a Judaic object using glitter, pom poms and popsicle sticks. At sports, lots was going on: Fantasy Sports Dome - a football challenge to see who can throw the furthest and who has the best touchdown dance; Hockey power shot - a relay race where campers were challenged to jump obstacles; Basketball Jam - relay races with dribbling, shooting and passing skills; Soccer - campers competed to see who could kick the furthest and then finishing with a game of Sharks and Minnows. Our Water Games pool became a Pac Man swim tank, with campers collecting treasures from the bottom of the pool to earn points. In Aquatics, they had relay shirt races and kick board relays. There was lots of good sportsmanship and ruach (spirit) all around camp Hilltop! It was fun!
We ended our week with a Dance party hosted by Above and Beyond Entertainment and a bunk party!
Thank you to all the wonderful campers and families for making this summer a fantastic one! We hope you have a wonderful school year and we look forward to seeing you next summer!

Shalom is a Camp of Champs!
Camp Shalom's Maccabiah "had its game on" and we were divided into red Mario, blue Sonic, green Donkey Kong, and yellow Pacman. Sportsmanship and friendly competition were everywhere as teams competed in cooking, arts and crafts, nature, ropes, sports, swim, and lake activities. Ruach (spirit) was swarming and cooperation and teamwork were overwhelming! On Wednesday, Unique Entertainment provided us with exciting music/trivia competition.
On Friday, Above and Beyond Entertainment helped us to dance the day away at our end of summer parties. Donuts and ice cream were enjoyed by all.
All of our campers are winners because they contributed to a great summer here in Camp Shalom! Though Camp is ending and school is coming soon, we hope that the wonderful memories of all of the great times and friends at camp will carry everyone through until next summer. We look forward to seeing everyone again soon! Thank you!!!
Shabbat Shalom!

Amazing in Camp Aaron
Maccabiah Madness Invades Camp Aaron!
This week, Camp Aaron "Got Their Game On" as we celebrated Maccabiah 2011. Blue Sonic, Red Mario, Yellow Pac Man and Green Donkey Kong battled it out in every area of camp to declare the ultimate gaming champion. It all came down to our "Song, Sign & Spirit" competition where each team performed their original song and presented their team mural. Each team had an awesome time and created some great Maccabiah memories that will surely last all winter long!
Our last day of camp began with a special Move Up Ceremony for our campers. Each division moved to the next division's seats in the amphitheater, signifying their progression through Camp Aaron. Our 8th grade campers were welcomed into our Gesher CIT program and heard about taking those in-between steps to possibly becoming Camp Staff. Jerusalem and Tel Aviv campers came to the amphitheater later in the day to be officially welcomed into Camp Aaron.
With summer coming to a close, everyone in Camp Aaron is looking back on a great summer that went much too quickly. Campers are busy collecting finished art projects and exchanging emails and phone numbers with new friends. It has been another wonderful summer for everyone in Camp Aaron! We hope everyone has a great camp off season and we'll look forward to seeing everyone back in Medford for Summer 2012!

Chaverim
Away We Went!
Virginia or Bust: Chaverim Headed South This Week
What an amazing time we had this week in Chaverim. Water Country USA was FANTASTIC, Busch Gardens and Kings Dominion were awesomely cool, and the Ghost Tour of Williamsburg was soooo SPOOKY! It's been a great summer in Chaverim. Some of our campers will be returning for another summer including our away trips to Niagara Falls and Lake George. Our 8th graders will graduate to become Gesher CIT's at Camp! We loved our time together and will miss you all. See you next year!

Gesher Gab
Gesher had an amazing week 8! Our trip to Hershey Park was sweeter than we could have imagined, capped off by an overnight where there was not much sleeping after all that chocolate. Congratulations to all our color war winners - our CIT's did a great job inspiring the maccabbiah spirit in all their campers! We have had the pleasure of spending the past 8 weeks with your CIT's and they will be missed. All of camp has noticed the great job they have done all summer long and you should be very proud of them! Have a great year and good luck in high school!
